Well i pick my first bike up on Wednesday,i've been riding scooters since i was 16,but this is my first real bike. I feel i have good road knowledge, and im one of the very select few scooter riders who had a brain. Any tips for a safe 2 mile ride home on wednesday?
Help and advice very much appreciated.
Cheers Marc.

you should be fine, you know about road safety etc, just take it easy and try not to get the most out of it straight away, IE change gears earlier rather than trying to scream it.

What bike you getting and is it brand new, if so might wanna break it in for 400 miles - don't rev it madly.

Goodluck with it, I bet you'll find it's alot more interesting to ride than a scooter

Nah its a 1990 NSR 125,good condition and nice looking for its age.
Yeah,im planning to pass my bike test this year and im looking forward to the transition from a scooter, just a bit nervous. I think the best idea is to stick to quiet roads and stick to the speed limit till im confident enough. Smile Wish me luck?!

I take it you came from a 50cc scooter? Then you'll be amazed with the power, just dont pin back the throttle like on a scooter and you'll be fine.

Quiter roads are fine, until you see a long straight, then god help you!

The NSR's are brilliant bikes, my friend has one and there brilliant.

goodluck Smile

You'll be fine. If the NSR is restricted, you probably wont notice much difference in speed. If it's not, then keep it below 7k revs and you'll be fine. When you're more comfortable with the bike you can start experimenting with it's capabilities. At 8k revs the powervalve fully opens and the bike takes off.

I have been riding a 2000 NSR for about 9 months now and I'm still learning new things, mainly adopting a riding style that suits me and pushing my limits a little further. It took me about 2 or 3 months of riding before I had the bike sussed out.
