hi, I was told that an aprillia rs125 needs an engine rebuild every 4k miles or so. I just wanted to know does that just apply to the aprillia or does it go for all 125's. I have a Honda NSR125 2002 with 4k on the clock.

hi,
the aprilia rs125cc needs to b regually serviced and highly maintained if hackin the nuts off it, but about engine rebuild i would say about every 10 to 12 thousand miles!!
the nsr125cc is a pretty reliable bike and u could prob get away without serviceing it! trust me i got one!
the nsr prob wont need an engine rebuild they go for yrs!

Hi

The RS service schedule includes checking the piston rings every 8000km (~5000 miles), but to do this properly means whipping the top end off so you may as well replace them then.

The NSR has smaller ports and gives the rings a far easier life which is why they last far longer. Also partly why the NSR produces less power.

All the best

Keith

all 2 strokes engines (with coated cylinders) need piston rings change and carbon cleaning every 7500 miles . piston change every 15000 miles . i do not know how long it is on the RS but it's 3 hours on the NSR and you can DIY it's not so complicated
