Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of a garage and my bike apparently is quite prone to the damp !
I'm told that the breathable covers are good as they dry your bike but aren't 100% waterproof so in heavy rain I'm guessing they leak.
100% waterproof ones keep the moisture in and the rain out !
Some apparently melt if the bike has recently been used !
The tyvek breathable £49 .99 is apparently recommended by "Ride magazine" although I haven't seen the article !
Anyone got any recommendations
thanks

I bought an Oxfor Rainex cover for my bike off eBay for about £20. Very good, heavy cover (but sadly slightly too small for my bike so I sold it). I currently use one of Argos' covers and yes, the moisture does occasionally get through, but not very much.

I'm told the Oxford Stormex is the one to get for outside. Try eBay for cheap supplier.

HTH Thumbs Up

I bought some cheapo blue one from M&P and never had any melting problems even on a roasting hot bike. Seemed to be pretty waterproof.

One thing I'll say though is to think about how your locks etc are going to work - I cut holes in my cover to allow me to lock it up the way I wanted but in time it did rip where I'd made the cuts. If you're buying an expensive cover and modifying it, do it well so this doesn't happen.

Of course, if you buy a cheaper cover, you can just bin it when it gets scabby.

Good idea Thumbs Up. I use Gaffa Tape (sic) around the edges of any holes and over any tears. Appears to work quite well.

One advantage of a scruffy cover is people assume scruffy bike(r) so less inclinded to have a peak, so not always a bad idea if parked out on the street.
