I've had this sort of thing happen twice on my NSR. First time it turned out to be a corroded wire in the loom on the left side under the tank (give it a wiggle and see if the ignition lights come on). Second time was yesterday, it turned out that the main fuse had corroded inside the end of the fuse body, so although it looked ok, it was buggered. You can test for this by taking the fuse out of the circuit, and tapping the fuse connectors together with the ignition on. If it is your wiring loom that is corroded then here's a bike breaker that has used wiring looms for your bike in stock.

Thanks for the advise guys, I had planned to spend all day at it today but its LASHING RAIN
Oh well if it clears up later ill give everything I can think of a go... I'll let ye all know how i get on!
