Not much of me in this one as I was too busy filming... I broke my flipping bike lol, the right side hand guard fell off Laughing Laughing

Excuse the quality, I have a problem with my software which seems to be fooking the video up, we're trying to fix it though.

Nice still from the vid, me on left, show off on right Laughing

It's the old runway in the new forest, used to be a runway years ago and is now a road... it was quite busy Embarassed but we were careful (well, until my hand guard fell off anyway Laughing)

Will make another vid soon, hopefully will get someone else to film this time Razz although my wheely away from the cam was nice Razz went on for a while but the camera went all shakey Rolling Eyes

Snatch on the other KTM is VERY good at wheelying, very confident, did you see him at the end of the vid, high wheely then weaved about left/right Shocked

He wheelied half way round a roundabout saturday too Rolling Eyes

We didn't stop long enough for the police to get there Cool

p.s. I'm starting to get over my new-bike-dont-want-to-break-it phobia, as you can see by the pic Razz Starting to get it up high ish, only about half of what I could do on the WR, but I'm getting there again... Cool

Off-loading the trailer and bloke knocked my bike over into a fence Crying or Very sad Laughing

Hey Yams,

What do you find is the easiest way to wheelie your KTM? Very Happy

I have a similiar bike, but I'm a little worried about getting the front wheel up...what do you think is the best way, clutch or throttle? Thumbs Up

Matt

Whatever you're comfortable with... on my WR400 I used to clutch it up in 2nd at slow speed, used to get up to BP VERY quickly but plenty of revs left (ask zxr400er what it was like.. nice n' high!) but the KTM is too powerful to use the same technique so at the minute I use the throttle.. I can wheely it off the clutch - just it comes up /very/ fast...

I'm finding the KTM hard to get used to at the minute, but getting back to how I was on the wr... as soon as I get used to it a bit more I'm going back to clutching up from walking pace...

So basically, it will wheely either way so you just got to find which way you prefer and find most smooth... My bike is quite highly geared (50t standard, 44t fitted) yet still wheelies easily, not sure whether to go to 42t to give me a longer gear, thus longer 2nd gear wheely or to put /more/ teeth on and use 3rd, hehe...

Just practice whatever you find most comfortable.

I can't anyway as KTM has Magura Fat Bars.. so those guards I sold you, and the guards on my WR, probably won't fit anyway Crying or Very sad

I quite like it without guards as I can get to the brakes a lot easier etc.. but means snapping levers /when/ I fall off next hehe..

How come the real shite video I posted the other week got a much better response than this much better vid?? with lots more action and better stunting in?? The other vid was me being rubbish (now got good-ish again, thank god Laughing) yet it got lots more replies/comments etc!

I'm not moaning about it as such, all I want to know is.. what makes a good video?? I love making vids, and want to do good vids that lots of people like.. is it just that it's supermotos so not of interest??

Was the music shite?
Was the editing shite?
Was the footage shite? (I know this vid was a bit wobbily admittedly)

I would like some constructive critism if possible? If you don't like the video, don't just tell me it's shite or say nowt... tell me how I can improve my next one! I think most people on other forum say the music is rubbish... so I need to put more thought into the music used? Fair enough I will do next time.

The editing I thought was alright, someone from IQ18 films has been "guiding" me with advice on editing and I think my vids have improved a LOT editing wise..

I know those name titles look crap, so I won't use them again Embarassed

Do I need to make the vids longer with /more/ action in them, and some varied stuff?

Did the slow-motion bit add value to the video? i.e. it was well placed and looked good yeah? obviously doing it too much would look shite, to little wouldn't work - but that scene was good?

Will on-board stuff make you happy? off-road?? I have a helmet camera and go green laning fairly often these days so I can always stick the helmet cam on if it'll make a good vid?!

Any other tips/ideas/advice? What would be good to see in the next video I do?? Or am I fighting a losing battle here because no one else is interested in supermotos thus won't really like my vids?

Thanks for help..

OK, you want my critique, from a pure video point of view...

- Needs more variety of camera angles. Not all shot from head height by the side of the road, we need heroic standing in the middle of the road, need lying down at ground level, standing on a car roof, tracking from the back of another bike. Angles add interest to what is essentially the same thing over and over again.

- Wheelies may be impressive, but people's attention span is shite. You've seen one, you've seen them all, to some extent. Need to intercut with other stuff, or at least other angles on the same thing.

- The music didn't seem to have anything to do with the footage, didn't match the pace of the footage and the footage wasn't cut to try and match the music at all. If you have some songs in mind that you want to use for videos, you know whether you need to shoot fast and frenetic or long and slow - getting the right shots makes the edit easier. The nice slo-mo would have been great if the song slowed there, but the song actually sped up which made it rather at odds with what you're hearing.

- Tripod. Or work on the steadyness and practice the panning. Or at least cut out the bits of nothingness when the target's been lost.

In my limited experience, I've found that the best footage tends to happen when you have to cooperation of the people being filmed and can actually ask them to do things to order. If they're playing and you just happen to be filming it'll never be quite as good as if you set out to make a vid and they're willing to do what they're told.

Hope that helps. Smile

I think the problem is that you said "Not much of me in this one." Hence no-one's really interested in what some random bloke can do on your bike, rather than seeing if you've progressed since last time.

Just my opinion, because that's how I looked at it. Thumbs Up

That's not my bike Wink I wish, very fast bike Surprised hehe I see your point though.

Bendy, thanks for advice, they were just messing about and nothing was planned, so you're right in that sense, I think I need to go out with a tripod etc with the sole intention of filming specific bits..

With the music, I see your point, This is a previous video I made when learning editing etc, the music fits a lot better (I think) so I need to make the music fit more like that on future vids?

Thanks again Thumbs Up

don't worry yams it is a cool video, it delivers good stunts and the sound is pretty well balanced between background sound and music which is what I want to see more of! I hate videos that show guys doing heaps of wheelies and can't hear what the bikes sound like over the 100% audio track of distubed or that german band I think it's called ramstyne? I am more interested in how the bikes sound because it helps me understand what the bike will do under power and where the balance point is, thats what novice riders like my self are probably keen to see more of Thumbs Up
