 |
|
Got myself a petrol tank (ZXR4) from ebay which has the fuel cap but no key. I removed the allen bolts but it won't come off as there is a screw to be undone underneath the filler cap on the right hand side (didn't know this when I bought it ). I've emailed him reguarding the key but I don't expect a reply. You can just see part of the screw through the gap.
Any ideas how to get it off? Would a locksmith do it?
Through about cutting part of the cap away (just enough to reveal the screw head) with a Dremmel but don't want sparks flying around as there are dregs in the tank. |

Get some wire and try picking the lock, might take a while but should be fairly simple to do if you have them time... that will stop anything getting damaged...
With the dremel you shouldn't get any sparks flying??? maybe use a drill and finish it off with the dremel...
A locksmith will i'm sure, wont be cheap though
Paper clips, screw driver and patience is what i'd try first... ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

Flat headed screwdriver in lock bang down twist . Job done
That's presuming you don't want the filler cap. ____________________ gixxer thou K6 , Cbr400 gullarm x 2 , cb400 superhack. |

Already tried the key from my bike but that didn't work. Tried to pick it (don't know how and ran out of patience ). May give the screwdriver approach tomorrow as I don't need the cap.
Thank fellas |

Take it to any run down council estate and get any 10 year old to unlock it for you !
on a serious note: take the tank to a locksmith or kawasaki dealer to see if they can get it open for you |
