I have just purchased a Variator- Malossi Multivar 2000 Part No.5111127 Speedfight 100cc (year 2000). When I have come to fit the Variator and notice that the back plate that hold the rollers in to the Varitato is to small to fit on the Shaft of the bike. I have checked with the Malossi website to ensure that I have purchased the right part. Everything seems to be fine. There are aparently to types CAT and non-CAT the only difference is the roller weight. Has any body had the same problem. Did you drill the whole bigger? Confused. I have even check with the dhop that I purchased it from and they say I have the right part. Any help will be appreciated. Thumbs Up

The crankshaft splines usually go rusty after a while, and hence aftermarket variator backing plates can get difficult to fit.

If you take the metal tube/bush that the variator sits on, and gently knock the plate down using that and a mallet or something it'll go on. Just take it steady and try to use as little force as possible, just enough to get it to slide down.

If you are unsure take it back to the shop and ask them to fit or a refund.

Hope this helps.
