I have a DNA50, the other day i kept losing power, whilst riding - a complaint from all DNA owners... but this is the first time its happened to me. Anyway, later that evening the throttle got stiff, so its hard to pull back, it hurts i have to grip it so hard Confused but now it doesn't lose power... it just has a stiff throttle. Whats wrong?
It has hub oil and the other 2 stroke oil, full coolant and fuel and it hasn't fell over as far as i know since the problems have started.... any ideas???? Please help

Your throttle cable is possibly rusted up over the winter and you maybe able to free it up again with an actual cable oiler device (costs £5), WD40 or 3in1 oil, otherwise if that doesn't loosen it then it's a case of getting a replacement throttle cable.

The opening of the throttle cable is located within the right hand switch unit plastic housing. You can see possibly 2 screws keeping it together.

You could possibly get someone to show you how it's done for the first time because you just need to slip out the cable being held in place by it's metal nib on the end of the cable from a groove in the in the switches unit and fit around the exposed metal cable the cable oiler device and hold the protective sheathing of cable against the oiler to keep a tight fit while you spray some oil into the tiny hole in it's side.

The losing power is probably down to the pants auto fuel tap clogging up, as mine did. The air filter also sucks up muck better than it does air so you might want to clean that as well.

To stop it shorting in the rain check the rubber spark plug bit (not the cap, the black rubber springy bit between the cap and the bottom of the plug) and also spray WD-40 on the white plastic bit at the top of the plug.

This is now longer my only problem. i got the bike out this morning to find that the coolant is leaking. i had this problem just before christmas and it cost me£150 to fix. it was my water pump which only costs £20 but it required an engine strip to get to it. i can't afford this again!! so looks like i'm gonna have to sell up and cut my losses Crying or Very sad

I would call that mechanic again and tell him the repair he made has just failed and moan saying that you were told by him it was fixed. Just prior to doing that call Trading Standards (if you live in the UK that is?) as they will advise you of your rights and quote that at him if he doesn't repair it under warranty because it was supposed to have been fixed and you do expect to get reasonable usage of it, but you didn't !

Try it and see what happens

The part is section 5a of the Trading Standards Act which mentions that you must expect to get reasonable usage out of an item be it a 2nd hand/new eletrical device/vehicle from a retailer/dealer. You can still be covered even if it's just passed the warranty even by a week because Trading Standards do expect that you should get reasonable usage from an item passed the warranty date expires and cases have been won and an example of that is on one of their region's homepages.
