I would absolutely love to take an SR125 or something out in the snow and fall off it every 10 meters.

Imagine the fun you could have dumping the clutch on fresh snow! Ahh man. You could fit stabilisers to it like in that video in the vid section atm!

My advice is don't bother.

If you are caught in a snowstorm and have to ride, fair enough. You can tie bits of string around the wheels to act like snowchains in 'lite' mode.

However, to ride in snow by choice? You is a crazyman!

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

i suppose its a bit mad, but the thoughts of catching the trains, with delays because of the snow pisses me off more...

if the snow settles, and it begins the thraw, is that ok?

Never a nice thing to ride in snow. London seems to be holding up, but was snowing yesterday a bit. It's the cold more than anything that will make you think twice about even going out in my opinion. Once you're convinced that you can muster the cold, you'd have to confront the compacted powder which turns into ice. Then there''s the near zero visibility to contend with. If you seriously want to ride on a bike in the snow through your own choice - i shall give you a medal of honour. It was a bitch getting the 3 miles home from college when it suddenly snowed last year. The NRG fared well, but I SERIOUSLY WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT - This is the suburbs of london we're talking about, so plenty of traffic about. If you're out in the country - then you'll be left on your own. You have been warned!

i was bringing my bike home today from Leeds (60 mile journey) and 20 miles in got caught in a blizzard. Thought about stopping once i got off motorway, but decided to keep going and ended up riding 30 miles in it. Roads were very wet but no snow on them. It was only when i got into town were the roads bad. When it came to the estate, i phoned for assistance got someone to carry my helmet while i, feet out either side, feathered it in the gutter.

That actually sounds like a pretty good idea.
Without a bike I get to deal with about 45 minutes or so commute each way instead of 20 mins.
Good call. Thumbs Up

If you've got a off road style bike go for it and have fun. The slap as you hit the ground hurts, then its all smooth. Try and land on the bike and "surf" it if you can...

Wouldn't try it on a sports bike.

They're introducing a raft of stuff like that (european bison, wolves, lynx, boar etc) back into an estate north of Inverness... Soon you'll be having to fear for yourselves camping in that neck of the woods. Smile
