Hopefully I'm going to get a k5 gsxr600 or maybe wait for 2006. I currently have a zzr400 and have rented a cbr600f4i last weekend. Found the cbr to handle good and real fast (anything is fast compared to my zzr Embarassed ). I have a strong heart, went 235km/h on the first day of riding the honda. So I'm wondering whats a gixxer gonna be like?

Pretty similar in the real world, but a bit quicker, sharper and more uncomfortable that a CBR600F. It'll be the K4 though won't it? Only the GSXR1000 has evolved to the K5.

I was hoping you would reply Laughing . Well yea it would either be the 2005 model (same performance as the 2004) but I love the black and red scheme. Or I might wait for when the 2006 model comes out and I'm pretty sure it would be an upgrade. The thing is I know this french racer who holds the lap record for courte de zour in France and he said that for a tall person the Gixxer would be best (I'm 6ft 3 maybe). Do u think this is correct?

Well, I can only talk from experience and as I'm 5ft 11 I have no idea what it feels like for someone 6ft 3! Laughing I'm not anywhere near cramped on either of my Gixxers though and I would have thought you'd be fine. Can you find somewhere to try one out?

The Suzuki dealger here in Dubai is crap so I doubt he would let me try a bike out. They are selling the 2003 gsxr 600 for the price of the 2005 Laughing . There are a few people who own gixxers but my friend almost made one of them fall with his stupidity (they were crusing and he came from the far left at 200km/h) so I doubt I'll get to try one of theirs. Is it anythin like a gixxer 400 because I should be driving that in the summer but I heard thats one of the most uncomfortable bikes ever!

Both should handle similarly, the gixxer will have a bit more grunt.

The 600 is a reasonable amount bigger than a 400. Speaking from experience (I have a 600 and I've owned two 400s) the 400s are very uncomfortable - the fuel tank range is about as far as you can go before you need to get off anyway! Laughing Having said that, I loved my 400s and they were great at everything else. The 600s are bigger though and shouldn't pose the same comfort problems for you.

Im about 6ft 1ish and don't have any porblems with the gixxer whilst riding it, so an extra 2 inches should be ok!

i'm 6'2 and brought a k1 gixer 6 new a couple of years ago and had no problems whatsoever... even doing the bmf rally (750 miles in 18 hours) and wasn't uncomfy when i finished

loved it that much that i brought another k1 (damaged) for the track

That's great to hear I guess no problems with comfort then. However, today I was doing some thinking. I got my zzr around 5months ago and after driving the cbr600 I found it dull. I don't want the same thing to happen to me when I buy a gixxer 600 since I'd be paying alot more money! So I'm considering a 750 (I think I'd keep it anywhere between 3-5years) what do you people think?

and you are questioning the power of a gsxr600

just buy an r1 that should keep you quiet for a bit

Hmmm... I know where you're coming from, but a GSXR750 is a step up again from that of the jump from ZZR400 to GSXR600. I've found mine surprisingly civilised, but I went from a ZX636 and it has lots more power everywhere Very Happy

Don't forget that the CBR600F you rode is now aimed squarely at the sports/tourer market since Honda have the CBR600RR for super sports. I haven't ridden either but I bet you'd find a fair difference between the two, and yet they're still 600s.

No mate you miss understood. I meant after taking the cbr600 for two days I found out that the zzr is dull!. The cbr was an f4i not a double rr Sick it makes my zzr sound even worse.

Yea I know that mate. It's just that I don't want to spend alot of money on a bike and regret it after a year. Sad

Not to brag but I also think I learnd to ride pretty quicks thanks to all the dreams I used to get before having a bike Laughing .

I don't think you'd 'regret' getting a 600, but it depends what you want it for. In the real world they have as much (more, even) performance than you should ever need. If you want it for riding around on as a priority (with some great performance thrown in) then you need look no further.

If your priority is the thrill of the bike trying to rip your arms from it's sockets then I fear you'll never be happy; you can buy a GSXR1000 and supercharge it and you'll still be "used" to it after a year (if you're still alive Laughing ) and (probably) bored of it. It's finding a happy medium.

I fit somewhat into the latter category, but I can't see me getting anything much more powerful than the 750 because I'll either kill myself or lose my licence. That's one of the reasons that has pushed me so much towards track days. Even bike journalists were syaing they couldn't own a GSXR1000 because they'd end up in jail or a ditch.

have to agree with silver - i traded up to the gixer from a 600 thundercat and found the difference increadible - handling, power the lot - i'd say the 750 is the perfect size for a road machine but i kept my gixer for almost 3 years, did 2 trackdays on it, 12k miles and 2 trips to france. had no problems keeping up with my mates on their r1's etc - it's only straight line at a ton plus i'd wave goodbye to them really...

Good point guys, I do blieve you're right. In the end I'm going to get usd to the bike no matter what it is. And I think your right, 600 it is. You know before I had a bike I used to say I don't want to drive over 140km/h and I don't want to wheelie and I don't want to do any of those things. But when I took the cbr I was almost doing 240, did wheelies alot and it felt great. Only problem is when you are on the bike you enjoy the thrill. But once off of it I was thinking what would of happened to me if I crashed at a speed of 240 Thumbs Down . I'm only 18 , still have my life ahead so I think it's the 600. Thanks alot for all your replies! As soon as I get it I'll post some pictures Very Happy .

New to the site here folks, my 400 is great fun but yes a bit uncomfortable when it comes to long rides, until you get use to the seating postion being mostly all forward lean. I suppose a gixxer6 will be my next move for comfort and reliability.
Nice thread.
