Won't Shut Up

Is there anyway of actually talking to DVLA, i sent a letter awhile ago asking about my licence and points, they havent sent anything back.
Talking to someone on the phone about it would be good.

I heard points stay on for 3/4 years??
Can i get them off the licence if they are.....

You will get a 'Press button 1 for..........' type telephone call, keep presing the buttons and you will eventually get through to a real person.

SteveH is right about the timespan, and you will have to pay to get a new license without them on.

ALWAYS keep multiple photocopies of of your licence if you send it of to Swansea, they have been known to 'lose' bike entitlements in the past.

Although not always. You go through about four menus on the pushbuttony thing then sit and listen to Greensleves for about 20 minutes. You then get a recorded message saying "Noone is available to take your call, please try again later." and it cuts you off Evil or Very Mad Mad

If you do get through, you get a spotty disinterested Welsh teenager sat in a call centre in Swansea who neither knows nor cares about your problem. They then say that they will call you back and don't.

My dad's full bike entitlement was lost when he updated to a photocard licence after a change of address.

Oh how very true Rolling Eyes

If you cannot get a useful answer ask to speak to somebody in charge, they always have a supervisor.

Always politely ask for the persons name before starting a conversation and make a note of it in case you need to refer to it later, also inform them that you are logging the call for further reference, and that if you do not get any help you will be asking for assistance in dealing with it from the legal section of a large organisation that you might belong to. Mention of AA/RAC often gets them moving Wink

If you do get cut-off make a note of the time/date and quote these to them if you finally do get through later.

Try to keep calm and polite, because nothing aggrivates them more, all the time giving a Middle Finger down the phone line to them.

I rang the DVLA last week to request a new licence (lost mine..)

Dialed the "lost licence" number.

Pressed blah blah to request new licence on touch thingy.

Waited 2 minutes on the line

Nice young lady answered the phone and asked what was up Razz I said lost licence, she asked my name/date of birth/address , took my card details, said goodbye.. 2 days later my new licence is on my doorstep.

Thumbs Up DVLA seems to be improving in efficiency!!!

As far as removing points goes a little birdy told me, if they have expired and you update your licence. They will automatically take them off.
Say you changed your address, when your licence came back the expired points would also be removed.

Dont know whether there is any truth in it but its worth a try.
