Gearbox trouble

Having finally finished putting the new crank in KR1-S and re-building the engine plus fitting it back into the bike I’m having some problems with the gearbox, first of all when l started the bike it would move off in neutral and l couldn’t change gear. So l removed the clutch/flywheel/magneto etc and striped the gear box down and found out that the forks that move the gear clusters were in the wrong position so l positioned them correctly as a cording to the workshop manual on the gears and on the selector drum, and re-built the engine. Took the bike for a spin tonight but now the gearbox wouldn’t go past 3rd and now in 3rd gear it acts like a neutral and there is no drive to the rear wheel. Any ideas?

I'm not sure of the exact terminology, but it sounds like you don't have the selector drum correctly lined up with the ratchetty bit that turns it.

its lined up correctly as there is a location dowel between the drum and the ratchet gear
