A question for the racers or engineers?ive just got a race exaust fitted to my bike a gsxr 1000k3 and have been given diffrent advice on where to set my gear shift light should it be 750 rpm above max torque or 750 above max bhp.max torque is at 85-lbs@7225rpm and max bhp 154.9@10930rpm.i generally change when it feels about rite but would like to know the engines optinum time?

Surely the optimum time to change gear varies depending which gear your in.

Ideally I would set the indication to shift at the point where you have passed the power band of the engine and its no longer pulling as well as it would in the next gear.
I guess this is going to be just after peak torque. However i wouldnt say that it shouldn't be set as low as 7.5k revs as the engine will really just be coming into the power band I would guess at that point.
