Is it possible finding out someone's address and personal information knowing just their number plate. I seen on TV (maybe Trevor McDonald Tonight), that you can contact the DVLA, and request it from them but there has to be a good reason, for example in a crash or something. And I think I also read it on here. I don't like the idea of getting a bike and then just anyone been able to find out loads of things about me.

If you're involved in an accident then don't your insurance company and/or the police deal with all that? Confused

And you can get the keepers details from the DVLA
if you want.
DVLA Website wrote:
Release of another vehicle’s keeper details

You can obtain the name and address of the registered keeper of a vehicle if you can show reasonable cause for needing the information.

Members of the public will need to complete form V888. Companies can either complete form VQ3 or apply in writing giving full details of the reason for the enquiry and the vehicle registration mark. Both forms are available from DVLA.

The fee for information at a specific date of event is £2.50 per vehicle. If further information is required, for instance, a copy of a document or additional keeper information, a fee of £5 is required per vehicle.

Send your application to: Vehicle Record Enquiries, Vehicle Customer Services, DVLA, Swansea SA99 1AJ.

Ha, no, I ain't done nothing wrong, I'm a good lad. I was just thinking because all you need to do is remember them numbers and letters and anyone could find out where you live an that's a very bad thing.

If someone wants to find out where you live or where they can nick your bike from it's easier just to follow you rather than buy your details from the DVLA which would be traceable.
