Hi,

I wasn't planning on riding into work this morning since it's cold, wet and snowing (but not lying on the ground), but after a phone call about some urgent problem at work I grabbed my helmet and was off.

That's the first time I've been out when it's actually been snowing quite heavily. Is it normal for the snow to stick to your visor ? Couldn't see a thing. Using the back of my gloves didn't help much either. In the end I rode half way with the visor up so I could see.

Got to work with my eyes streaming from the cold air. Any suggestions on keeping your visor clear of snow or is it something you just have to suffer when out in the winter ?

Yup snow is a real pain, not only does it freeze your knackers off but you cant see and bike slides all over the place!

Only suggestion is that (if its bright enough) to wear sunglasses under your visor, especially if you can put a little anti-fog spray on them. This means that IF you have to lift your visor your eyeballs dont get freezing, not much you can do about rest of your face but at least you wont arrive with tears running down your face from the cold.

But heavy fog is the same, every twenty seconds you got a thick layer of moisture you cant see through. And wet roads + salt is again a pain in the ass.

Just gotta get used to the cold!

Yup, on the way home this afternoon, it was a mixture of rain, hail and cold for me (at one point it got so cold and wet that my bike just died - took five minutes to coax it into starting again)

The rain was all over my visor, so I had to ride with it up, which meant that the hail battered my now exposed face.

Back home now, soaking wet and freezing cold Sad

I don't think i've ever had my visor properly closed. In the summer it's too hot and im glad of the breeze and in the winter i can't see through it anyway because of the fog! so i just keep it open about a half inch to get some air through. The snow is a tricky one, it seems to freeze on the inside so wiping the outside does bugger all! Very confusing!!

Gav.
