How many near misses do you have?

I had one yesterday that involved the first good day of the year pushing it far too hard and misjugding a corner. Sebsequently I was doing about 70 coming into what I thought to be a wide corner then it tightened without giving me any notice. Rather than doing what you should and leaning the bike down more I slammed on the anchors sending me into a driveway at the other side of the road. A car was coming the other way and he looked at me as if to say "what are you doing?". The funny thing was I was calm about it and thought to myself "hmmm I wonder if I should indicate to let this Laguna know I'm going in to this driveway". That's twice I've went into the other side of the road although the first was when I was taking a corner and got blinded by the sun. I think I should take it a bit easier and get used to going hard again before Joey Dunloping it.

Probably twice. Once when it really was a pedestrians fault. managed to go quickly turn but I clipped him with my wing mirror at about 20mph(stupid fucking student)

The other time, on friday, did the stupidest overtake, didnt have enough power and didnt properly judge the distance required for an overtake. Managed to get by in time but the oncoming biker didn't seem too happy. Didn't get much sleep that night as I was kicking myself for making such a silly mistake. Thumbs Down

More than 4, less than 10 probably. No option available for that, so once or twice Smile

Far to many to count, usually my own fault when I'm on my own.

Don't think I know how many actual crashes I've had either to be honest.

the only time I nearly crash is when I am pushing harder than I feel comfortable and freak out coming into a corner a bit quick usually I am a bit hesitant to lean the bike right over because I am affraid I will slide out if I hit the white line or some debris on the road, so far I have done that twice, once when I had the bike for a fortnight and was accelerating a little arround a bend ( somehow I just freaked out because I was not used to the bike yet ) and the other time was when I overtaked a guy from my work after nightshift, he was on a YZF 1000 and I felt a bit cocky so went arround the outside of him on a 120kmph left hander and struggled to pull it over for a 100kmph right hander directly after the lefty Shocked I remember thinking oh crap I'm gonna crash Sick

That's been the majority of my experience - you get the "ohshitohshitohshitohshit" buildup, make the corner then chant the "stupidbastardstupidbastardstupidbastard" once you realise you are still in one piece Smile

I have only nearly crashed once, about 2 weeks ago. It was my own fault, lack of concentration on road in front and the person had put there brakes on, but they weren't all that bright to be honest and I nearly went into the back of them. I managed to pull a stoppie though! Very Happy

Good job I was on an empty tank as well as those few extra litres of petrol would have taken me into the back of the car. Smile

Going into a roundabout in fifth, forgetting to change down before I realised there's no engine braking and that I'm effectively just coasting. Manage to get to fourth before I needed to do serious evasive manoeuvres so as to not run wide off the outside. It was the first time I got my peg down; the whole thing wasn't scary until I realised what I'd just done having heard the sound... Don't forget these footpegs don't fold up Neutral

Other than that, there's always a staple diet of running slightly wide on fast corners, to find a truck coming towards you about 50 yards away. The only time I've done badly it on a blind corner was when I luckily had enough space to get back over to my side in short order. I went through the exact same corner two weeks later, just leant more and got my line a bit better, to find a car flying round the corner in the opposite direction. I've come to the rapid conclusion that running wide on a left hander is a bad bad thing.

I nearly saw a Blackbird rider getting scrubbed today. The idiot passed me and the car in front just before the brow of a hill coming into the national, he missed an oncoming Beetle (of course he didn't even see it)by about a second.

I had plenty of close calls when I was younger. Most were due to a lack of experience and riding like an idiot. Now I haven't even been close to an accident for a 3-4 years. I hope I haven't just cursed myself as I am about to go out Shocked

Define nearly crashed. If you mean general scarey moments, im in the hundreds already, however if you mean 'how the hell am I still rubber side down' moments only about 5-6

Have to agree. In my first months of road riding, I found myself misjudging all sorts and getting in plenty of awkward situations with other vehicles, thankfully, no accidents with them. Lately I've found myself riding very safely and tend to assess other road users' actions a lot more, preparing for the moment when I may not be so lucky at a junction or the such.

Selected 'frequently' though, as it happened a lot in the early months. Now its just every now and then.
