Now my vfr is feeling rather shi*ty, very bogged down at low revs, splutter alot, not nice really, slow accelaration

I have a very loud japanese faddy daddy can on my vfr400, its all linked up right but at the top where the can hanger mount is riveted on theres a gush of white liquid coming out from under the rivets,Its dry by the time i'm off the bike, plus the other rivets are less than tight, now am i right in thinking the can is blowing and causing this badness?

Btw this bike is not re jetted for this can, although its been fine since new years day, only problems in the past week.

As soon as i can get somebody to modify my spare can a bit i'll stick that back on but the faddy daddy is the only 1 i can use right now Sad

Any advice is greatly appreciated,cheers

LEON

My mate says he had sumet similar with his but not with the white stuff!!
he says try cleaning your plugs and if it then runs smoothly again you know to get some new ones.

As i say it might not be the problem but he found that was the problem with his and under similar symptoms.

NGK 9EH plugs are what he renewed to and says they work a treat.

Its a diy jobbie. The plugs are just a bit hard to get to. Invest in a haynes manual its all there, very easy to do.

Replacing the front two is a slow, fiddly job. It's not technically hard, you just need to relax and take your time over it. An extra pair of hands would be an advantage to hold the radiator as far away as possible after you unbolt it, to give you maximum space to work.

The rear two are fairly easy though.

TBH from what you said about white liquid I'd look at the exhaust. If it leaks get some exhaust putty from Halfords and try to seal the leak(s). You can feel for leaks afterwards by just leaving the engine running while putting your hand next to the suspect area.
