I see that David Beckham's bought himself a new £100 000 custom Hayabusa according to MCN.
It looks a really trick bike, but what the hell is Beckham doing with it?
Can he ride a motorbike? Apparently Real Madrid have banned him from riding it, but can he ride? Does he have a licence?

It was built by custom bike builders 4th Dimension and has an amazing paint scheme which changes colour in the light.

It is a beautiful piece of workmanship, but David Beckham for God's sake! Evil or Very Mad
It's not fair, in fact it may even put me off Busa's....

Wink

Well you don't get many 200mph 'round the bend' events do you Razz Laughing

- only joking, and I take no responsibility if 'round the bend' describes any participants

I remember seeing Les Ferdinand on the telly with his Duke, back when he was a decent player and he was allowed to ride...

Him and Beckham not in the same league though!

I imagine he just said to his butler: Very Happy

"edwards, go and buy me the fastest roadbike ever, here is a £100,000 note"

"certainly sir, its called the 'Hayabusa' "

"excellent, now go and put it in the garage and sell the story to the press like a good boy"

"certainly sir, are you not going to ride it ?"

"absolutely not edwards, i will just use it as a target for my excellent free kicking skills."

I can imagine it!

Unfortunately, the bike in question was used in the new Pepsi ad with Beyonce and J Lo. The Number plate on it is DB 23 and is said to be worth £30 000 alone!

I bet he had a good deal on it after filming the ad.

Why is it that pop stars, footie players and other rich celebs get all the flippin' freebies and discounts when they can afford to pay full price for the stuff?

(I know it's 'cos the brands get the free publicity, and I'd personally be willing to endorse Rolex, Gucci, and ride about on a new bike of my choosing in order for them to shift a few units.)

I too am willing to ride around on, let's say a Honda, wearing Honda branded stuff, if it's given to me free.

Like many bikers - walking advert time, and people actually pay for the privilege Doh! Razz

To answer the question, the subject of the 'freebies' is often written into the contract to use their name/image.

I have been searching the web for pics, but no luck. There is a couple of photos in MCN (page 11), but I've no way of putting them up here.

I'll keep trying...

Images of Pepsi ad with Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce and a couple of Hayabusas here

Don't know if this is relevant to Beckham, other than he turns up here
https://pub.tv2.no/multimedia/na/archive/00182/Jennifer_Lopez_Davi_182148m.jpg

BTW the norwegian auto-translation about the Hayabusa is:
"Under recording became facts cast-off motorsykler at breed Suzuki Hayabusa. David Beckham liked motorsyklene saw be comfortable that Pepsis the teams getting layer a copy at him."

<edit>...Doh! Doh!, I get the Pepsi link now with the advert, from here
Quote:
Beckham Joins Lopez And Beyonce For Pepsi Threesome
Actress Jennifer Lopez, singer Beyonce Knowles and Real Madrid star David Beckham are in Europe together filming a new commercial for Pepsi. The commercial is described as "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon meets Kill Bill." Sporting a budget of one million dollars, the commercial, set in the Far East, will pit Lopez and Beyonce against Beckham in a martial arts extravaganza.

Beckham recently signed a $10 million five year deal with Pepsi. Beyonce joined Pepsi as spokesmodel in 2002 following Britney Spears and Lopez recently signed a deal joining the Pepsi threesome.

So I guess that explains him getting the Suzuki, just one more photo op Rolling Eyes </edit>

NOT Beckham's bike, couldn't find/scan image. The Hayabusa bike features in a Pepsi ad. Pictured in Madrid as puplicity for the launch. Read the other posts for info.
