engine let go

There i was going up the A1m got to Sandy and slowing down for the roundabout, started to nock down the gears and the noise that was coming out of at 4 thounsed revs and then it justed cut out that was it it would not restart, so i was stuck in the outslide line with no engine, and then to top it all off some nod in a merc starts calling me a wank and to get the Fu*k out hes way. Sad

Engine seized while in the outside lane, in busy traffic. Not fun at all, but managed to coast to the bike to the hard shoulder.

Do you have any idea whats caused it to clap out?

Hasn't happened to me on my bike, but happened to me doing about 80 in the fast lane on the motorway in my car, one of the conrods came through the enginge block. Smoke every where scaried the shit out of me and all the cars behind me at the time i am sure. Thumbs Down

It was a zxr400 l9 only had 9000 miles on the clock i think the valves went on it, and yea i did tell the merc to get losted i was only about 5 mins from my house so i got a mate to help get it home.

if the engine siezes up does the transmission lock up and skid the back wheel?

any way of telling its about to do it?

Hi

If the engine seizes then it will lock the back wheel, but just pull the clutch quickly and the wheel will start to move again.

Seizing the gearbox is rather worse.

I had a scary moment, it was quite a few years ago but I was taking a package to Crawley, delivered the package okay and made my way back to the M23. One mile after joining the M23 the engine died, total loss, I was in the slow lane at the time because it was wet and windy so I was being careful. I managed to drift the bike into the hard shoulder but I was sliding a bit and after getting off the bike I saw why. There was oil coming out of the engine and had left a trail on the motorway, MY SUMP NUT WAS GONE!

I had recently had the bike in the shop for a new cam-chain, the oil has to be removed to do this. The prat who worked on my bike didn't do the sump nut up properly. I complained to the bike shop and HE WAS SACKED.

The bike was a Honda CB250RS, it had a full rickman fairing and it was a great bike till that cunt wrecked it.

lukey i had a warranty on the bike so i do not have to pay for it to be repaired, i have been told it was the valves that have gone i only had it serviced by a place in bedford for its 8000 miles service happened to be the valve resetting one.

hmmm

had mine serviced at 11,000 kilometres

cost about 300 pounds

that was for a small hole in the downpipes to be welded as well

have to ask him if he checked the valve clearences
