Ok, took my XJ out for a thrash today, the front brake binds, and has done for a while, and will do untill I give it an overhaul, anyway, on with the story...
After a high speed thrash (all the way to the redline etc) I came to do a u-turn, and very gratiously dropped the bike. It's a heavy bugger, and the front brake only helped me lay it onto my leg.
I knew it would happen at some point, no damage done whatsoever.
Anyway, I stand the bike up, thumb the starter, and it billows out loads and loads of smoke. So I think "wtf".
On a closer inspection it's pissing oil onto the floor.
At which point I hit the failsafe (read: "I phoned my dad") He advised that I ride it home carefully keeping an eye on the oil level indicator.
I got it home, and found the source of the oil was an overflow pipe that was attached to the air box. So by deduction I guess while the bike was on its side, fuel and oil etc got into the air box and is now draining out?
Does that seem feasable? I'm not the most mechanically minded person ever, but the bike seems to be running fine, and the exhaust smoke has now stopped.
No harm done I hope.

Yep, sounds like some oil came out through the crankcase breather (which is often routed into the airbox) then burned off. If it is running OK, oil level OK and temperature OK, I wouldn't worry. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen.
