Does anyone listen to music in their helmets? Any opinions on whether you should or not? Just a thought as I found my MP3 player earlier and rode back to work from lunch with it in. Think my headphones are too big tho as jaw and ears hurt now!

Any recommendations on headphones to use?

Thumbs Up

i used to have one of thoe rider to pillion intercom things that had purpose built ear pieces & mic. On the control box where you plugged in it also had a socket so i could plug in a walkman or CD player so it went via the intercom & the music etc was played on the intercom headphones. That was the best i've come across & it also meant the intercom could be used a little more than when i had a passenger. I used to carry a walkman & the box in a bumbag. Quite handy as at the time i was travelling up the motorway to get to & from work.

Although I suppose the best type are the walkman ones which sit in the ear like ear-plugs.

I've been using headphones in my helmet all my biking life. It's not the smartest thing to do but it sure does make the journey more interesting. I'm not sure on were the law stands on this subject but as long as you don't get caught it can't hurt.

I've found that the best sort of headphones are the in-ear ones. They don't put any pressure on the ear and they also allow some traffic noise through so you can hear the boy racer in his nova behind you.

In esence i belive that cars have (Loud) radios/cd players so why should we not be allowed to listen to radios/cd players to!

I used to use MP3 player for to and from work but got bored of wires getting tangled round me neck and the thing that annoyed me the most is that I always got it all set up, zipped my jacket up, got on my bike then knocked the bloody off button Laughing Evil or Very Mad Laughing

Now I just listen to V-Twin on way to and from work, sounds much better Thumbs UpWink

you could also argue that the Police & even the breakdown patrol riders have radio gear in their helmets. I'm sure havin "oscar oscar 1.2. come in." blaring around your head for 8 hours a day is a little more off putting than listening to music.

How much do they usually set you back? I have been in two minds about getting one tho. When I do eventually get my girlfriend on the back I dont really want her screaming in my ear!!! At least the noise would be dulled through two helmets! Laughing

AFAIK the type which rest on your ears are illigal. You are only supposed to use the in ear type.

the one i had i think was the original "oxford bike mike" which cost about £45 from the NEC bike show a few years back when i bumped into one of the reps i knew.

i'm sure anyone who deals with Oxford products should be able to get hold of one or have them on the shelves.

this may give you some ideas https://www.slickbiker.com/Slickbiker/Accessories/Intercoms.htm

I wouldn't care, but it gives a link to a MOTORCYCLE CHARITY based website - in fact the 1st ever UK toy & egg run charity as well ... could understand it if it was a hardcore porn site or i was file sharing illegal MP3's or something.

Forum doesn't allow animated avatars or pictures of any kind (other than smilies) in signatures, so your banner was deleted, same for everyone so don't take it personally Smile

Well I am sorry but I do, you could of just deleted the flaming image accordingly & NOT the entire signature.

so much for your charity spirit. I thought this site was better than that.... guess i was wrong.

Och, stop going off on one. If we make it okay for one person to have a picture or animated avatar, then everyone will naturally want one.

If its just the link you want in it, put it back in then Thumbs Down

One could always read the clear information about signatures when creating it, then one wouldn't have these hassles.

granted, but was deleting the ENTIRE signature really neccesary?

Just removing the offending ( ? - if it can cause offence) item would of been sufficient with a PM to say it had been done. i'm a fair guy i can take a rollocking.

or is it just a case of https://www.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/character48.gif

Like i said, i thought this site was better than that. Guess i was wrong.

There's a 'remove sig' button the mods can use to remove the sig. We don't have access to edit it selectively.
