Hi,

Before you think im a numpty I am normaly quite handy when it comes to cars.

Today Saturday I had the mondeo up on 2 axle stands, managed to change the rear bumper and remove a tow bar and all associated electrics, so after all this, I thought i'd change the oil on my newbie bike.

Well the last owner of the bike was an AA man, I thought they had torque renches, I can't move the dam thing, its a 24 or 22mm plug and just won't move.

Managed to smash my hand in to the gravel and cut it up just trying.

Any ideas??

Is it anti clock wise release. ???

Couldn't believe it, it was dead embaressing, loads of the local kids, watching me fix my mondeo and then couldn't even change the oil on a motorbike. Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

My Dad's approach to this would be get the longest/chunkiest spanner you have on it, then kick it.

I think a ring spanner is preferable to a ratchet and socket.

get a socket on it then get a mate to hold it while you put a piece of pipe on the ratchet and get loads of leverage,
its 4 times easier with a bar twice as long

Its a normal bolt, so anti-clockwise to release. It'll just be bloody tight.

Cheers,

Where we work we have truck mechanics so they will have the air line tool so thanks.

However, I've booked the bike in for a full service, had it just over a month, first bike etc, thought i'd be happier after a good service.

i couldnt get the bolt off mine either, so i just removed the sump. 3 10mm bolts that came off very easily. Just remember to replace the o-ring that comes off it..
