Well if you may remember from earlier this week, I was going to get my bike set up on a dyno, so monday I booked it in for a run to see if it needed it.

Today was the day it was booked in for the dynorun, though it was booked in for a general check over too.

Once it'd had its check over, in which the mechanic found a few things wrong though nothing major it was time for the little GPZ to have its run on the dyno, the mechanic rolled it on and set everything up on to it and the began caining the living shit out of the GPZ on the dyno, and my god does the bike sound lovely at full chat! And it backfires on the over run too. Very Happy

Anyway, a few mins later and all is done, and the bikes not blown up thank god after it, and then I get a total shock something I was not expecting at all, 54BHP at the rear wheel!!!!
And 59.0 at the Crank and 56.1BHP at the gearbox, I was expecting a figure around 45-48BHP at the read but not 54BHP!

And I was also informed that because it was a fuchs dyno and not a dynojet one its pretty accurate too!

So am utterly and totally chuffed. Very Happy

The Dyno print out is attached below.

Hi

It just gets painful to hear, and with the poor thing pumping a bit of smoke out on the overrun.

I am sure the Dynojet operators would say the opposite! To be honest you need to see what other bikes are producing on the same dyno (as that figure is 10hp up on what we got from Charlottes GPZ500).

All the best

Nice one!!

Wondering what my er5 produces unrestricted at the moment.... Idea Wink Told you the bike sounds awesome on the dyno, goes up the rev range effortlessly (obviously).

Thats the same print out I got for my er5, must be the same machine.

CBR 600 is kicking out 98 at back wheel, it has K/N ,full Micron System and has been Dyno Jetted.

Haven't had FZR 600 done yet but I would expect it to be around 70 as it only has ART can on it but hasn't been jetted yet.

They were 90 claimed, with the road tests getting about 75hp out of them.

All the best

Theres a nsty looking flat spot there, (about 4,000rpm), you can see the dip in the torque and the power curves.

I would think you should be able to get rid of that, maybe new airfilter or maybe a K&N

My sons ER5 had had holes drilled in the air intake trumpet, on the round bit on the end of the airfilter, presumaby to improve airflow and may help with a flat spot.

Doubt it, its a parallel twin making healthy power for its size. You could fiddle about for ages with jets etc, all to no avail.

If you want true tuning potential you need remappable fuel injection (NOT a power commander and ordinary fuel injection...).

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Where? I cannot see any flat spot at 4,000RPM, there is one at 6-6,500RPM but thats a totally normal characteristic of a GPZ500S, as its just before the 7,000RPM surge of power.

And from what I was told by the dyno guy there would be no point throwing lots of money at the bike just to get rid of one small flat spot that I hardly notice.
