AARRHHGGGHH!!!!

Went to the garage to fill up today, paid, went back to the bike, no keys, Confused Sad Confused Sad Confused Sad

Searched absolutley everywere, the girl behind the counter wasnt exactly tripping over herself to help, ended up walking the 3 mile home and going back for her in the van.

Luckily I got a spare cut a few weeks back.

Only thing I can think is that I dropped the keys on the way to pay and somebody has swiped em.

Searched everywhere, even went through the forecourt bins Sick

Unlucky Rick, I got a taxi down to Chisel Speed in Leeds to pick my bike up a while back, bike wasn't quite ready and needed dynoing, got the bike back together and onto the dyno late afternoon only to find that we couldn't find my keys! Had to get a lift back to York to pick up the spares! Turned out they had been given to someone else who had come in to pick up there dragster as the keys looked the same!

I've calmed down a bit now but was absolutley fuming at the time, had spent ages getting ready, packing my gear etc to be stranded once I was on my way.

Im just glad I got a spare cut when i did.

For anyone who hasn't got a spare set - Go and get one sorted!

Bit late now, but you could always keep a spare key in one of the indicators.

Might want to keep an eye out, say you left them in the bike or something and someone picked them up, hoping to see the bike around there again.

I was speaking with a dealer about the Honda HISS immobiler/ignition system, he told me it would be £500+ at least if i lost both my keys to get a new one cut for the ignition!!!

That true?

Certainly is cos thats what happened to me! You need a new CDI and barrel, honda also like to sting you for the sender device but thats not needed.

I lost my key for a 2000W CBR600. Id not known anything about the HISS before that and happened to get a key cut. When I lost my key honda broke down like this

New transponder £70
New barrel etc £130
CDI £260
Keys £20-30 each

Plus labour.

Because I had that key cut to the barrel they could use that to copy the new keys to the barrel. The new transponder is not needed, thats absolute bullshyte. The CDI is needed though. I worked it all out myself and told the garage how to do it. Just a new CDI, cut the new keys to match the barrel and simply put the key in and turn for the CDI to program the keys. Two honda dealers simply refused to believe this would work and wanted the whole package. One did (thankyou lancaster Honda) so they got it done a good few quid cheaper!

Look after those keys and don't always believe the experts!

When I was about 18 or 19, I used to get so pissed on the weekends that I could never find my keys no matter how hard I looked (probably a good thing). The funny thing is that I always found them the next morning in my helmet, held in there by my gloves Shocked Confused

I lost my main ignition key a few weeks ago, somewhere between my room and the 25 yards to the garage. Confused

I suppose it might have fallen out of my trousers and down the back of somewhere when I had taken them off or something. Now having only a single set of keys is annoying me though, I really should go and get another spare cut.

The stupidest idea ever is to put the romote switch to the bike alarm in the ignition key ring. If the keys goes missing not only can you not move the bike without the bleedin alarm going off but if someone has stolen it they can disable your alarm before nicking your bike.

Woo hoo Very Happy

Keys back in my possesion, just collected them from the garage.
The lassie on duty didnt know where thay were found but for them to be found 3 days later I suspect they must have fallen down the back of the counter or something.

Now i've two sets of keys but no bike! Roll on next week when she comes back from the garage. Very Happy
