Anyone know of any decent insurance companies that give good quotes? i find that specialist brokers in car insurance give better quotes than others. Is it the same for bikes? Was quoted £900 TPFT for a yamaha fazer 599cc,which i think is a bit steep, by Endsleigh insurance.
although i will have no, no claims bonus, i am 21......which is the first big bracket for insurance reductions (in cars anyway).

As above, the best way to get cheaper insurance is to call as many as you can.

Personally, I can recommend Carole Nash. I phoned a lot of companies when I was finding insurance for my Bandit 600, (I'm 17 with 1 year NCB) and was turned away by lots of other companies or getting stupid quotes around £1200 TPO. Gave Carole Nash a call and got £660 fully comp! Amazingly low, so worth a call. Thumbs Up

hey, i just got a quote with MCE, now it was just for a 125 but it was still half what i was quoted by other companies... 250 quid as opposed to 450 or 490 which was what most wanted... i'm on a provisional liscence... and just went for third party fire and theft.. they're on the internet of you want to get the number, but i agree that spending a couple of hours calling everyone is the best way... make sure that they don't have restrictions like having to have it garaged etc before you pay.... best of luck

cheers for the suggestions. If i get any really good quotes, ill place the companies on here, so that others can give them a try. Cool

Carole Nash are top, they will insure on bikes other companies have refused, but I heard they were sh1t for younger riders. But Keith got a f*cking good deal on that one bearing in mind he'll get £50,000 of legal cover and recovery in with that.

I insured myself with Lexham, 220 tpft, extra 30 pound for break down cover, not bad really.

Steve.

Phone everyone, and haggle with the cheapest few. Make up a lower price so one of them matches (they can/will ask you your lowest given quote from another company), and you can get an ace deal as they will try very hard to match your given quote. Don't give them a stupid low price though, otherwise they won't take the bait! Wink

Both Carole nash and Bennetts (both widely regarded as being top insurers) were both crap for me.

They wanted more money with a years NCB than I paid for my first year in the bike (Fazer 600, like you Kaben) And I'm ten years older than you! Shocked

MCE gave a great quite but I went with Swinton in the end as they were even cheaper (although fiddly paperwork was a bit of a balls ache).

Motorcycle Direct can be pretty cheap. I got a quote for my RD125LC from BENNETTS yes BENNETTS and the quote was £350 tpft. I thought that this was a very good price considering it was with BENNETTS (they are my current insurer for my 50cc as well)

poeple's choice were good for me. Insured my nsr and cx500 for £230 TPFT on the same policy. They are a broker so they do most of the searching for you. I think my actual insurer is Equity Red Star Thumbs Up
