Hey, as many will know I have a project CBR400rr, and it is nearly time to finish it up, and get it taxed and MOT'd.

The problem I have is that I havent got a tax application form, and the bike hasnt been taxed/sorn'd. So will I get Roayally bummed for not having an SORN? Or will they understand that as I have only just become the registered keeper that the previous owner was at fault?

How would I go about applying for another Tax form/disc?

And what is recomended to do about the need for insurance to tax the bike? Will that be a simple wait till insurance date, or a fake that insurance doc?

All who can help, please express your views.

Thanks,

Sam.

Well, you won't be able to fake it because you need the bike MOT'd and insured prior to getting it road taxed for it. Once you've got those two items in questions then you can either pay for the road tax disc online or at your nearest post office, but don't get the idea I'll just do it online thinking they won't know about insurance except they search a main database shared by all insurance companies for which the Police, etc, can search to verify that your bike is actually insured and road taxed.

You are allowed by law to ride your bike to a garage to have it MOT'd but it has to have been pre-booked, but you must have insurance for it in place prior to riding it there. Once you've got the MOT certificate and then preferably on that same day get it road taxed too.

cheers for that. Seems that my birthday will be a long day. However since my dad has TPO on other bikes with his policy, he will be doing the MOT run. Laughing

Not anymore. They seem to have stopped the online tax application / SORN declaration.

Generally only covers him for bikes that are otherwise insured.

All the best
