Right, today I decided to get off of my arse and begin the work. I stripped all the fairings a while ago, and left them in the garage. So it is bare at the moment.
I began the afternoon by fitting the new end can and my mini number plate and indicators. The exhaust seemed quite loud, I revved it up to 6k rpm, and woke my sister up and also my mother who are at the other side of the house!
I also went to take the carbs apart only to realise that my screwdriver wasnt quite long enough to remove them from the bike. I was in the desperate search for restrictors!
Anyways, here are piccies. It needs: Front tyre, brake pads, bottom fairings, and left mid fairing. New petrol tank then Tax and MOT. Will also do an oil/coolant change.
Following that it will have some tarty bits, and some useful bits too!
Will be downgeared a little. to a 28~14 I think, with a 520 chain. Will have a mph/kph converter. HEL braided hoses. rear seat cowl and a respray. ____________________ 05 ZX10R, (**05 WKR) |

i know how you feel
mine looks like that and worse, more often than it looks like a normal bike
currently got full exhaust off, carbs off, bodywork off, radiator off, all fluids drained
just an engine a frame and some wheels basically
if you need any spares give me a shout as chances are i may have what you need
and if you are being tarty i can supply some metal heel plates to rid you of those plastic items ____________________ So in other words, he stopped you for being flagrantly in posession of a motorcycle in direct contravention of the Hippies, Darkies and People Whose Face I Don't Like The Look of (Police Powers) Act. 1976 |

The heelplates really should be the first thing you replace.
The plastic ones are so huge, and ugly.
Have lots of fun with the bike bits ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

2 things:
Early Fireblade heelplates fit on (with a few washers). These look great IMO: they aren't tarty and look good. Check out pic/link in my profile. I'll give you the place I got mine from when I fix my computer.
Can't remember exactly, but I got mine from a UK place/website called "The Fireblade shop", 2nd hand a tenner. Place specialises in Fireblade part, funnily enough
Sammyboy, can you so me a favour and take another pic, side on, so I can get a feel for the size of the can, sort of in relation to the rest of the bike. I need a new can. |
