Got the phone call to say my bike was up & running today, Whopping bill though. £975 inc parts & labour!!
Had to shell out for the following
Clutch seals
4 x spark plugs
1 Did chain & sprocket kit
1 x oil filter
4 ltrs semi synth oil
1 x rear pads
2 x front pads
1 bottle dot4
1 x rear caliper seals
17 x shims!!!
4 x jet screws
rear brake pad pins
1 battery
1 MOT
Petrol.
a fairly big chunk of that money went on the Labour charges.
The exup had siezed & the exup servo wasn't working but luckily they were repairable & didn't need replacement. That probably would have added about a grand!.
Next stage is a lot of TLD to clean up the cosmetics.

Must have been a pooload of labour for a grand! Shocked I wouldn't have thought that all of that stuff together would cost more than £2-300 at the outside?

What kind of bike is it again? You seem strangely relaxed about having to pay that kind of dosh

Well, stripping, rebuilding and bleeding a seized brake caliper; Stripping then setting up a bank of four CV carbs and setting up the tappets on a DOHC-4 with buckets and shims would take me all day if not longer. Admittedly I am not a bike mechanic but it is still a long job in anyones book

Shims on their own can be up to 15 quid each for some bikes so that is about 250 quid before you have touched the bike if they couldn't do a service exchange for some reason.

The Bike is a YZF750R. Its been stood in the back yard for over 18 months.
The parts alone came to £440.
Problems that I knew of were siezed brakes front & rear,
Clutch fluid had leaked out.
exup was siezed.
petrol was rancid.
bike would not fire up at all.
Other than regular oil changes when it was being used the bike hasn't had a full service since 1997.
If I had given it one dealer service a year since then It would have cost me more than I have just shelled out so Its not as bad as it sounds really.
without spending the money the bike was worth nothing but scrap value.
