I know quite a few of you have ER-5s, so can one of you tell me if there is any under seat storage on them? I know that if there is, there won't be a lot, but all I want is somewhere to keep a spare chain 'n' padlock and a pair of waterproof trousers.

Ta Thumbs Up

yup, there sure is Thumbs Up

There is a seperate holder for the toolkit and in the main compartment, it can take a u-lock perfectly, as well as a disc lock and a 1.5m 10mm chain with lock. Thats the most I've crammed into mine but I usually jsut take my u lock and disc lock in there. Theres plenty of space left for anything else I need to carry. If you want a picture give us a shout and I'll get you one (tomorrow, my bikes all tucked away just now Wink)

Dodsi lad has quite a lot in his I believe.

To be honest though, I don't really stuff anything else in there other than locks. It can let water in at times so I jsut use a tank bag/backpack for anything I need to carry Thumbs Up

With what you have asked to fit in there, you probably could do, although it might be a little bit of a tight fit. I'll try with mine tomorrow for you! Smile

Yeah, if you wouldn't mind that would be great Thumbs Up (no rush mind, I need to pass my test next month before I get a new bike - I am just starting to look into what bike to get next)

The waterproof trousers are just those cheap plastic/rubber type ones. They can roll up to the size of a large battered sausage if I try really hard.

I think that's the best similie I've ever heard.

And there's a fair bit of space under the seat, a couple of battered sausages would be no problem.

You rang.

I am known to carry one or two bits an peices around with me...

These include.

First aid kit, Yellow "day glow derick" vest, Kawasaki Tool kit, full set of allen keys, various other tools, various Bulbs, Instrument bulbs, Chain lube, WD40, Cargo net, Visor cleaner and a pack of tissues.

Might be one a few other things... I forget.

Anyways, I have more space to use so need to think of more things. Next time I am at darlington I might get a cable repair kit.

Edit....I have 2 sparkplugs also.

He's turned to the dark side..

Now he wants a Bandit! Cool

Tom's ER-5 is pretty cool, even with his assortment of goodies under the seat. Razz

Yeah, I want a bit more poke

So a bandit seems like a cheap and reasonable upgrade as living out here in the countryside I spend a lot of my time overtaking slower moving traffic, and I want something thats easier to do so.

(by that I mean about 5 cars and a truck in one go Twisted Evil )

If you like I could ride up to your neck of the woods and you can have a poke around the bike at some point and decide if its an ER-5 you want to go for.

Well I don't want to jinx my test by getting too eager. But definitely wouldn't mind a go when I've passed (unless you are in Newcastle for any reason before then).

I shall keep you posted (who knows, if I pass I may take the SR on a run to Northallerton!)

Cbr 600... you know it makes sense. Start off at 40, and you wont help but doing well over a ton before you get to the end (very quickly at that)

I feel so safe with this power now, and its so easy to keep slow because you know its there when you need/want it. Such as motorways, whereas before id try and blat the whole length at 90 etc dodging things with throttle pinned, now i can creep along at 60 with everyone and just drop a cog and round then back down to 60. Much fun.

its a 96 plate, restricted *cough*, cost 2400, and so far around 680 TPFT with (introspectively) 2 years NCB, 18, licence held over a year and an sp30 with no points, no months ban and a 50 quid fine.

Currently ive transferred my tpft 350 insurance (£550 originally) to my cbr for the remaining 8 weeks for £160 tpo. Its abit steep, but hell, it gives me 2 years no claims and stops me from losing what little i got in them 10 months insured with 3 months riding.
