Ok might be a long one this, I have posted the problem in the other part of the forum.
Got the VFR, apparently it has no restrictions it is full import, I know it hasn’t got a kind of limiter as the thing can do over 100mph easy peasy.
I rode back from Wales, go the thing warm and went on the 2hr journey home, no probs, the bike likes speed I noticed.
So I am doing my riding now, 8 miles one way, 8 miles back sometimes go for a cruise but generally doing around 10 miles work, GF whatever. The other day I decided to get the thing warm and then take it to the high rev’s of around 14-15k. I did this changing to third, after I let the throttle go the bike sounded like it had a frog in it’s throat and seemed like fuel starvation (loosing power).
After awhile the bike was normal again I could take her to about 13 maybe a bit more.
So I have got a few ideas from people…..
Problem with having a large can and not setting up carbs etc.
Carb icing
Fuel tap problem (apparently doesn’t cost anything)
Comments please………..

I had a similar problem on my RVF.
Check out the follwing:

I still can't figure it out. Possibly need to redo the carbs as their setting may be a bit off. ____________________ sliding by the seat of my pants. OUCH!!! |

Could only be the tap from the ones you suggested.
H. 400s don't carb ice, definitely not in this weather anyway.
Can wouldn't do that.
If it is fuel problems, the problem would happen when you go up the revs, not when so much when you let off to change gear.
Stick it in whatever gear and rev it full throttle from low rpm to the redline. If it revs cleanly and smoothly all the way up it isn't the fuel delivery.
I'd do the tap thing. From what I've heard it can only bring good things, nothing bad. Unless someone has anything bad to say? My Cbr has a gravity fed fuel tank. |

Probably the Fuel tap or the bit of rubber inside (Circular with a spring.) has gone hard or brittle , due to being in contact with petrol and the age of the bike , also check the vacuum hose is air tight , No hole's loose connections etc .
If the hose come's of while you are checking it (happened to me( the little stub on the engine is located right near the left hand side of the frame. ____________________ gixxer thou K6 , Cbr400 gullarm x 2 , cb400 superhack. |
