I've just had a couple of TPF & T quotes for a ZZR1100, and both came out at around the 800 quid mark, which I was shocked at.

I've currently pay 204 for my GPZ500s. I am 39 with no convictions and no claims, so why is an 1100 four times as much as a 500 ???

What do you lot pay for insurance?

Cos it's about 3 times the power and your more likely to kill yourself on it. Any other q's like why the sun comes up every day and how babies are born? Laughing Sorry for the sarcasm.

Plus the fact as a 39 year old you are currently most at risk of killing yourself according to statistics.

the zzr is much more desireable to steal and is more powerful.....might just be why!! Laughing The bikes are put into insurance groups, the gpz is soemthing like 8 or 9, zzr must be 15 or more.

I pay £495 for my insurance on my er5. TPFT.

By far and away the major component (about 70%) in selecting the insurance group is the cost of repair from the Thatcham head on crash test at 15mph. A ZZR will cost you a fair bit more than a GPZ to repair, as well as being more desirable to steal and perhaps more likely to crash.

Seems steep, I'm 29 and my GSXR750 is less than that Fully Comp and the insurance groups are similar. I would shop around a bit more if I were you.

Hi

Seems expensive to me as well. Currently paying £225ish fully comp on a played with 1200 Bandit with the modifications declared. 36. That is with Motorcycle Direct.

As to risk, you are not in the most dangerous group. That is still youngsters. You are just in the group that has become noticed due to its massive growth.

All the best

Keith

I pay £170 TPFT for my Thunderace which is a group 16. I had a quote on an 03 GSXR1000 at £304. I am 40 with only 2 years no claims but no points or claims etc. It is not clear if you have any NCB discount, even 2 years makes a hell of a difference. All other factors apply, postcode, security etc. What you pay for your GPZ is a lot!

Shop around and play them off.

Was that a first quote from bennetts?

Call lots of companies and play them off against each other. I normally find carole nash give a reasonable first quote for a starting point, or www.clickquote.com do an ok first quote on their quick quote online system.

MCE gave me a good quote but I eventually went with Swinton Bikes. This year I paid 280 quid Fully Comp. 04 Fazer 600.

It may well have something to do with where you live too. Your postcode might not be conducive to cheap insurance on a bike like that.

Jesus, you need to keep shopping around, at 33 I'm paying £306 for a Blackbird, including breakdown and legal cover with Carole Nash.

Hi

Thinking about what someone else said, yes you are paying loads on the GPZ500 as well. My better half is paying about £150 fully comp on her GPZ500 and is a few years younger than you. TPFT for her was £79 the last time we asked.

All the best

Keith
