What do you guys make of this, With limited mechanical knoledge I can't decide for myself.

I currently ride/rode a Piaggio NRG 50cc (We've all got to start somewhere...) I was coming off the A3 today it was pulling around 6.5k RPM which is normal and was doing about 55 clock speed. Whilst approaching the end of the A3 slip road the bike semi locked up like I'd applyed the brakes. The bike instantly lost speed and I nearly did an arse over tit job.

I pulled onto the pavement and tried to move the bike reved to about 5.5k where the clutch grabs but sounded almost like it was flooded or the choke was on.

I let the bike cool down for about 15 minites pushed it under the roundabout subway to get into my area and drove it home it now only revs to 7k (used to go to 8k) and rides along at 6k which it used to go at 6.5k the bike feels like it's missing alot of power if there is such thing from a 50. But whatever happened has caused about 50% loss of perfomance.

It's got oil, petrol. I've changed spark plug which was a golden brown biscuit color. It's totally standard. I don't ride like a twat and I let it warm up.

sounds like a small seizure could have occured or possibly a ring snapped, if you can you should check the compression in the cylinder

Thats my impression as well today due to the loss of compression. I was going to sell it this month as well as I'm old enough for a 125 next month Sad
Would it be easier for me to buy a second hand engine for about £100 and stick that in as I'm not confident on doing a rebuild.
