Mis-match tyres?

I took my bike to my usual mechanic to last night to get a new rear tyre (which is getting fitted today).

I was running Avon Azaro SP AV49/50's but he says Avon have discontinued the AV50? Even then I'm sure some places will stock this tyre? He then went on to tell me that he's got me a Dunlop 208RR which is about as close a match as he can get for my front Avon AV49.

Is it ok to run to different makes of tyre? And can anyone comment on the Dunlop 208R?? I'm a little bit pissed off TBH as I could have bought a pair of Dunlops at the bike show at the weekend for a little more than it's costing to have a rear tyre supplied an fitted.

My MZ runs with a dunlop on the back and a Heinaru on the front, don't know if this is ok, but it seems to work.

It's gonna get swapped soon for a shiny new Bridgestone battle axe.

both new though and i have had no problems

No Dunlop runners then?

Might be struggling on my ride-out on sunday if I don't get the tyre scrubbed in on time!

In th past I ran with a Dunlop 208 front and Pirelli Dragon Evo Corsa rear with no problems.

Hi

For very best results do not mix them, but normally I have been quite happy with mixed tyres. Only once have I not been happy.

Well there is only 1 way to find out. I'll be going elsewhere for my next set of tyres and they WILL BE Michelin Pilot Powers!
