Tried to ride off today with my security chain still on. Got about 5 meters down the road before I ground to a halt. Chain is pretty f***ed but bike seems ok. Had to get a nice man to help me get the bike off the chain which was wedged underneath. I am officially an idiot.
Has anyone else down this before?

I've read a few stories on the forum about people riding off with disc locks attached.

You should get one of the idiot friendly thingies that come with some chains/locks that you put around your yoke to remind you.

Yup, been there, done that, except it was with my disc lock. At least your bike didn't hit a car on the way down. Shocked

Good job I need to push my bike out the garage before I ride. Have tried to push it out with the chain once before but considering I have a snot green chain to match the bike, my excuse is I never knew it was still on!

Boogered my scooter completely doing that... had a chain through the back wheel when it was up on the centre stand. Wandered out of work half asleep, started it and gave it a welly of throttle cos it hadn't been starting very well. Back wheel up in the air on the stand went flying round (no neutral innit) and I heard an almight CRACK.

Chain hard been flung round and slammed into the rear brake, snapping the mounting off. Which on a scooter, is part of the whole engine cover. I believe the word was "bollocks". The situation was made even better by the fact that my front brake was pretty knackered so I had to ride it home with basically no brakes. Got it welded back up, lasted a bit, then had to replace the whole cover at massive Malaguti-related expense. Not a happy bunny.

Did similar on my CB500 but with no damage. Learnt my lesson good and haven't done it since. Thumbs Up

Done it, but only when pusing the bike forwards (with me sitting on it). Hurts the goolies Shocked

Yep, done that. Big fat oxford chain, chained up to a pushbike stand thing. Set off as usual got about 2 foot and stopped rapidly, nearly broke my leg catching the bike though. The guy in the green BMW over the road looked away, but I could see him pissing himself laughing.

Did it on my GT550, chain through the rear wheel, over the rear mudguard/light assembly. Pulled away, got 2 foot, folded mudguard.

hmm i did it with a disc lock, tho i was just pushing the bike backwards out of the drive, and heard a crack as the bike stopped, it cracked the mud guard paned slightly, but i'm too lazy to fix it, its proof of my stupidity Rolling Eyes
