Hi,

I just wanted to glean some knowledge out of the more experienced members of the forum.

As you know I have a TT600 that is for want of a better word, a streetfighter.

The trouble is, the coolant expansion tank is vaast, and attached to the side of the radiator. Not only is it exposed in case of mishap, it is also hideously ugly.

Now, from what I can remember of the diagram for my cooling system, it consists of a tube on the bottom of the tank going into the middle of the radiator, and a tube from the top of the tank from the radiator overflow.

Could I simply move these pipes and shove them into a red bull can or something? </tarty> Obviously the lower one would have to be submerged in the coolant, and the upper one just held in place at the top if the can.

Would this work, or am I talking nuts?

Hi

If it is going into the middle of the radiator then it suggests that it is pressurised, so I don't think you could just use a red bull can.

What does the Speed 4 use?

All the best

Keith

The speed 4 uses two extension tubes and an expensive black expansion tank behind the crankcase.

I think I am wrong about where the tubes come from... I think the cap on the bottle is not strong enough to allow it to be pressurised!

I know that one of the tubes definitely comes from the radiator overflow...

Unfortunately I'm not near the bike to check, but I will check on thursday night when I get back from Scotland.

Hi

A single line from the radiator cap would be about right for a non pressurised header tank. There will only be anything going into it when the radiator cap is under high pressure.

All the best

Keith,

In which case... how the heck does the coolant get back into the system?

Unless the one at the top is an overflow...
