Why is it that us bikers never get tired of riding? Perhaps it is the endless freedom that you feel when on your bike or the anticipation of a beautiful, dry, hot day tempting bikers out like wood worm from a chair leg. What reasons do you guys have for the endless enjoyment of riding? Surely there must be an end to it...right?

Goes for any other car too mind you. Its the pleasure of zipping past 30K+ cars on a 25 year old £750 bike! Twisted Evil Laughing Thumbs Up

Not sure about the thread question yet, but your sig is wrong.

Its this:

Bob: I wanted to see how a war is fought *so* badly!

Blackadder: Well, a war hasn't been fought this badly since Olaf The Hairy ordered twenty thousand battle helmets with the horns on the inside!

/me hauls back onto topic

Dunno, I think that when I am riding hard, I tend not to think about anything other than my riding. This is great for relaxation as it helps clear the mind of worldly thought.

Perhaps Buddha would have gained enlightenment faster if he had been able to tear off across india on his Enfield Bullet! Smile

For me it’s the adrenalin rush. Not many other things can compare. There is always something new to learn and plenty of things to do to push yourself to the limit, so you never get bored.

i just love the freedom...

last night me n my stepdad (me on FZR600, him on CB650 Nighthawk) went out to the pub at 10:30, had a quick one... then took the scenic route back

we did 30 miles, and got back at 2AM... we were trying to get it over... i also pulled my first wheelie (only a little one though).

can't seem to do that in a car

Couple of times in my life I've thought I could live without bike. Couldn't justify the expense and lets face it, bikes are an impractical toy for most.

But I as soon as the bike goes I get depressed and start looking for another one (only bigger, faster and even more impractical Twisted Evil ) Even got divorced to get my bike back last time Confused

I can park my bike 4 metres away from my uni entrance for free.

In a car, the closest free parking is about 2 or 3 miles away.

Lots more reasons but to be honest, I'm lazy and will let others write them down Very Happy But I think the one I've said is the most advantageous.

an endless array of situational awareness self lectures! it's both exciting and terrifying at the same time and it only gets better the more you ride! Mr. Green I thought about trading the bike for a 215HP jet ski but then I realised you don't have the whole balance, brakes, lean angle, warm, wheelie, stoppie and transport thing! Laughing

its deffo the freedom and zipping down the middle in traffic jams and the free parking and the fun of not needing the whole of the road to overtake slow buggers and the fun of having others off.

plus its cheaper and more fun!

The freedom Smile Being able to get up and go wherever I want - it's great!

Great adreneline rush cruising past 4 or 5 cars going down a hill, even though you know it'll be fine, can see ahead, you still get a kick out of it.

Also the suspense of not knowing what'll break/fall off next Laughing

I love the 'bang-for-your-buck' factor.

My £425 restricted 600 is a traffic light GP champion.

I love cranking it over hard, fast cornering in the car just doesn't have the same buzz. The free parking bit rocks, and the snootyness of thinking, "I could overtake you if I wanted, and I can zip through this traffic jam, and other bikers nod at me, other car drivers don't nod at you..."

er ...

No, seriously, I don' t know why I like riding so much. I suppose it's the sum of many things - the challenge of riding safely & well, freedom to overtake most traffic at will, the adrenalin-rush, the occasional blast of outright speed ... I also like being that little bit closer to the countryside than sitting in an air-conditioned box on wheels - catching the country airs Smile

I've made a lot of friends through the biking community too, so the social aspect is a big thing for me too Thumbs Up

I have found myself 'bored' of normal road riding.

With my RS250 I'm happy to go out now and again, but not to the degree I used to or at the speed I used to.

I hope I've got a while before I get bored of track riding Smile... and there's the aspect that Mark mentioned, for me on track; almost a kind of meditation, with my mind focused on the next corner and the next rider to try and get past.

At work parking is restricted for cars, you could wait up to 2 years for a permanent place, a bike is instant.

Also its just fun. Some things are just like that, like only fools and horses, dads army etc. They are entertaining no matter how many times you see them.

Truth be told, I do get bored with riding sometimes. I know, I'm a spoiled piece of so on and so forth. It's not that I get tired of riding, but more specifically, that I get tired of riding fast. Sometimes I just feel like cruising...is that really all that bad? Before I'm banned, I'd like to point out that this has only happened once or twice in all my...er...months of riding, but it has happened. Anyone else share the same sentiments?

OK, I was wrong, but I didn't have the DVD with me here in scotland to refer to, and scant internet access.

I only missed out the high chief of the vikings and got the number wrong... Wink
