As the title says, which do you prefer?

Not being a GYKD type, I pefer a wide, fast, swoopy bend over a sharp poo-your-pants twisty any day.

Am I alone (again?)

I do like the technical roads, I like a nice S bend, so you have to go from one extreme and flick the bike over onto the other side.

I've very much a GYKD kinda person, even though I can't. New tyre tomorrow. This summer, it'll happen.

I'll be the first person EVER, on an XJ600.

A long sweeping bend on which I can get a high speed along, see all the way through and work on leaning/ countersteering better and getting a higher speed through it is more fulfilling to me, but a set of sharp twisties is quite fun, so long as you're not under pressure from any other riders.

It might just be the bike I'm on and my lack of experience, but really technical roads with entirely blind bends and kerbs/ walls/ drops/ oncoming wide traffic are a bit scary. I'd rather concentrate on my riding without worrying too much about falling off and sliding into something solid or into an abyss. It just seems corners which you can see all the way through don't exist outside of race tracks though.

Slow and technical for me, not keen on high speed cornering.. theres a corner by me I can do at 110+ and have done a few times but no where near as fun as slower tight country lanes!!

My scooter will only do 60ish. So ill go for the twisties. I like to try and GMKD on some bends! Rolling Eyes Its also pretty good for cornering... (for a scooter)
Must be the wide tyres and sports springs.

But defonatly the twisties...

Ohhh I like those long swoopy bends where you have time to get your road positioning right and just swoop round the corner at a steady speed, hitting the apex perfectly. Very Happy

Me too I like both. Don't like shooting round a corner, that I don't know what's around .That's the only thing.

Whatever it is, I like it if it's got good visibility.

If I can't see around the corner, I don't like it so much.

If I can't get my knee down on the RS250, I wouldn't consider it a corner. Though, actually, I could probably pretty much do that on a straight road anyway, as it's so tiny Razz.

Gotta be twisties.

I love the weightless feeling when you flick the bike from a right hand bend to a left bend - About halfway into the flick is just becomes weightless and neutral and feels like I can move the 160kg bike with one finger.

I would make the entire road system from S bends if I could.

What he said. I slow down a lot on those sort of roads - need to work a bit on going deeper into a corner, then steering quicker ....

Twisties all the way, if you get bored of the same lane, you go through it and try find another, Great Thumbs Up my bike handles very well on lanes as its very low slung, can scrape the pegs no problem.

I'd much rather the twisties. Especially when I'm under pressure from other bikers. Razz

if other people are going for it on lanes, means they know the roads, you shouldnt be peer pressured at pushing it, ride at own pace.

Saying that i hammer it round bends more and more i go round them , have left a 400 hanging once Very Happy ( he didnt know the road)

I know my limits and I'm pretty good at gauging other people's skill. Besides, I know the roads around here as good as any other biker. Razz

The thing is though, I don't ride with big bikes often enough to see the kind of speeds that they go around the twisties so I like to keep up with them if I meet them. Kept up with a Gixxer 750 on Friday around some of my favourite bends. Was fun, the guy was trying to show off I think, but me and my brother kept up with him OK. Smile

EDIT: I don't think I have 'my own pace' to be honest, I seem to be getting faster every time I go out on the bike. Thumbs Up

yep a Welsh mountain pass with tight twisty off camber bends, stone walls, drops and armco. Its a proper bikers road then! Take no prisoners and every man for himself! I dont enjoy being pressured by other bikes behind me, as i end up making mistakes then, usually running wide and onto a patch of loose gravel, not good for your underpants!
Only donside to this type of road, is that its where alot of single vehicle accidents happen, it hurts if you get it wrong, and im not so keen on all them sheep honest!

Love the tight and medium turns, personally. 100+ mph sweepers are fun, but nothing beats a tight, familiar, technical road where you can really lean the bike over without fear of losing grip and flying off a cliff. Penny Coin Penny Coin

I prefer the long fast sweeping corners, theres one just outside a village from me which can be a 130mph sweeping left hand bend.

But I'm probably biased to swooping corners due to having a busa, when I pick the R6 up on tuesday, it'll probably be different.
