Ok, today i realised my bike does actualy back fire?
Drive along, get up to a decent speed roll the throttle of , and as you roll it off hit the kill switch, let it roll for a while and hit it again "Pop"
So i think to myself, lets scare some people, so did the above ^ and scared the living daylights out of these two teenagers great fun
The longer you leave it rolling and turn it back on the louder it gets i found, anyone else done this for a little giggle inside your lid ?
dont do it too much doesnt do it anygood.

Still can't do it Done it once but I didn't know how.
My exhaust will be good for it too, as it pops and cackles if it gets under any engine braking.
So you don't have to roll the throttle on just before the kill switch then? :S
Confusing... |

ride along and roll the throttle closed, when the throttle is closed hit the killswitch OFF and leave it for 1-2 seconds ( you will be rolling along, get up some speed so you dont get too much nose dive) then turn the K-switch back ON and "POP"
Edit: no keep it closed when you turn it on again then you hear the pop and open her up and carry on.
Same with you hitting the K-switch, if the throttle is open (not roling) and you hit the K-switch it will dive abit.

Just being picky here, but if it's through the exhaust, it's an afterfire. Backfire is through the carbs ____________________ Current: CB500 Previous: CB100N, CB250RS, XJ900F, GT550, GPZ750R/1000RX, AJS M16, R100RT, Enfield Bullet

A mates favourite game with the zxr400 + straight through race can, very loud.. best place was in st.annes in nottingham, big bang and the gangs of rude boys all hit the deck ... that is untill his engine went bang for good (probably related as it turns out)
Afaik it buggers up the exhaust valve, the more frequent and bigger the bang the more chance of "complications"
[this has been a moany old git announcement]
My das instructor did this in front of a school, very very funny ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

My other half used to do it on his XS650 by turning the ignition key off & back on. However, he used to also get a nice big flame on both sides! Faster you went, the bigger the flame, average was about 3 feet.
He says useful if someone was following behind you too close..... ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

Tried starting my CBR4 the other day, with the fuel tap in 'off' position. After a little while of my dad pissing about, it made a gunshot like bang, and sent a biig flame and fireball out of the back. Since I have spent a few weeks working hard on it, I was very worried to say the least! ____________________ 05 ZX10R, (**05 WKR) |

So, when I hit the kill switch and if, IF the engine does actually die and I'm not actually quick enough to flick it back on, will the bike just slowly come to a halt?
Just got some horrifying images of it locking as I'm in gear. |

Vtwins don't seem to backfire off the kill switch So doubt it'll work for you instigator. (you have a vtwin don't you? can't remember..!) and p.s. if you hit the kill switch off then back on, as long sa you're not holding onto the throttle then you won't really notice any difference.. it won't suddenly stop or anything.. ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

My mates SR125 does that. but you dont need to fanny around with kill switches.
Just ride down the street, Jump the gears from 2nd to 5th. So the bike is doing like 20mph, but really low revs as it is in a low gear. And then clutch in, Jump back to 3rd (gear it should be in) and away you go...
Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop!
Its great fun...
My mini also does it. And its a fuel injected engine. Its automatic too.
GO flat out, Take foot off the gas, Roll for a few seconds, then Floor it again...
Pop! Pop! Pop!
My speedfight 100cc used to do it, My 70cc dosent tho.

What u can do to do to make the R6 backfire is to pull the clutch in, whist ridding along or stationary, and rev the engine to near enough red line and then turn the kill off switch on and off really fast making it go bang in quick succession like a machine gun.
It really loud the o my ghosh and its not funny.
However i would never do this to my GSXR600 K1 (aka the bike), i love it to much.

Cheers steve - works a charm now. Although it seems I made a baby cry today after doing it in town so I'll have to limit doing it. Can't help thinking it's bad for the exhaust too. Is it?
This was just engine braking from about 5k, wouldn't dare try it from 10k, I think the exhaust would split!!!! |

to do a good backfire
get your revs quite high like just before the redline let the throttle of and knock the kill switch of at the same time
(sometimes i put the chock on aswell to get more fuel though )
and let the revs drop the more they drop the louder the bang i usually let them drop about 2-3k then just turn the kill switch back on and BANG! ____________________ "RIDE LIKE A KNOB AND YOU'LL DIE"

On my SZR660 if I kill switch the engine, then open the throttle fully, close the throttle then restart the engine I get a massive flame with a load of sparks flying out the end...
Looks like an ancient musket type rifle going off. Not very loud though really? ____________________ Yamaha SZR660 Caution to the wind, the throttle pinned! |

When i do wheelies, cos i just stay in first, the act of going from 8k to 15k then rumbling it back down to 8 etc makes lots and lots of backfires Good fun. ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...
