How many privateer racers are there on this forum. Iam not interested in trackday dudes or people racing for fully sponsored team.

Just people with local sponsors or financing them selves.

Iam thinking of trying to get some joined sponsorship going but need feedback Thumbs Up

Hand

With bemsee in (mostly) sourthern England.

I failed to get any sponsorship for this, my rookie year. However I was hoping for that needle-in-a-haystack chance of a big sponsor, and didn't want to ask for smaller amounts as I didn't know how much I could commit to it this year.

Have got various 'in kind' sponsors for pretty much all my major consumables though Smile

Thats fine G, basiclly iam not looking for people who have been gifted rides, i.e. rich daddy financing son etc or been asked to ride for big team, just people who have gone out bought a bike maybe got couple of small sponsors and compete at first or second year level.

I want to try and generate money for us, but I need to know how many people race before I let everyone know the plan. Thumbs Up

Is there anywhere in NI that does track days or am I right in thinking there's a place in Fermanagh/Tyrone? Never heard of Nutts Corner or anything doing them.

Don't know anything about the Hornet Cup. I will being racing in the Clubman Chamionship, in the Pre 97 class all CBR 600's and the odd 250 Bike. My team mate is riding in the Super Sport class on a 2002 CBR 600.

If you want to get into racing start at Clubmans, it is the cheapest out of the rest and best way to get started.

Hornet cup doenst alow any modifications so in theroy its ment to be quite cheep to run in. Think the feild is about 45 hornets and CB500's this year.
Bit of info here
https://www.hondahornet.co.uk/hornetcup.html#intro
Run by new era race club and takes in Oulton, Cadwell, Donnington, Pembrey, Snetterton and Castle Coombe.

Have just received an e-mail from ACU to say my licence has just been processed. So why is it that my bar room bravado has just deserted me? My first race is a month away and i am absolutely f@%kin bricking it already! No sponsors yet - i dont think they could stand the humiliation. If there are any new racers out there, please tell me when the terror subsides and the enjoyment begins.

What club are you racing with?

I was initially supposed to be starting racing last year, but money and life conspired against me, so I've had plenty of time to get used to the idea.
Bit sad that I'm 'missing out' on some of the 'newbie' excitement Smile.

Just joined Darley Moor and have applied to EMRA and Auto 66. I need to check out some others who race at Cadwell, Donington Croft etc . Tested (track day) at Mallory at the week end and i was awful. I was faster on the bike when it was road legal and bog standard than i was with new suspension, brakes and gearing. Its not the bike thats slow - Its me and its doing my head in!

I was a second down on my best recorded lap at my first races... compared to my best lap previously.

Was a fair bit faster at my last practice day, but hadn't done the circuit for a couple of years.

I have done work for 3 race teams now (including 1 pro team) doing web, graphics, clothing design etc. The team that I've just done all the logo and clothing designs for have just got the team fleeces printed up and selling them for £40 each - top price and helps him fund some racing too. This is mostly aimed at G really, as I know quite a few people would be interested in buying Team BCF clothing!! It won't make you lots of money, but anything is better than nothing IMO. Just a thought as sponsorship is near impossible to come by unless you're very very very good.
