Yamaha Aerox 50 derestriction

Hi,

I bought a brand new aerox 50 cc six months ago and i'm just turning seventeen.

I can't afford to buy a 125, but i want to go faster and derestricting seems to be my only option.

Anyone got any tips or info, like how fast it will go?

On my mates aerox, it's got one of the "easy" to derestrict exhausts - there's a short (30cm) pipe coming off it, that ends in nothing. Cut this off and crimp and weld the end up.

Don't know why the aerox is restricted like this, as all the other newer yamahas have stupid exhausts with baffles (no pipe) so AFAIK these can't be derestricted - a new exhaust is needed.

There will also be a washer/plate inbetween the variator, which will need changing.

At present my jog is running round with JUST a new exhaust, and it's not great. Will pull 40 on the flat, but I need to fit the clutch springs and rollers (doing that in the next week or so - after the service). At present it takes about 10 seconds to get to 25, then you have to hang on as it flies up to 40. A nice sound (sounds like an F1 car ), but not really desirable performance. Also impossible to get more than 20 up a hill without a run up.

So exhaust, variator, clutch spings and rollers need doing, and I believe you should change the engine jetting after doing this too, but I can't help you too much with this.

I've never touched an engine before in my life, so i dont think I have the expertise to be doing it myself. How much do dealers charge? Any ideas?
