My bike (1995 Honda CB500) has been sounding entirely "right" lately.

I checked the oil last night, and I'm not sure if I was being paranoid but I thought the oil seemed too runny. It kind of dripped off the dip-stick thingy too quickly for my liking (this was after a 5-10min ride). Is this possible? Is there some problem that can make the oil seem too runny or am I just imagining it because I am a bit paranoid? There seemed to be enough oil there. I'm also not sure if the colour of the oil was right but that is more likely to be my paranoia. I haven't checked the oil level for a couple of months and I think the last time it was changed was December but I've not done that many miles since then.

Any ideas?

5 - 10 min ride will have heated the oil, it will be runny like water.

I usually check after a 5-10min ride. So it is supposed to be runny like water after that time? Like I say I've checked it loads of times before but never paid much attention to the viscosity and now there is the funny noise it has made me wonder whether the oil has always been like that.

Maybe it is just something loose. Or maybe the chain tensioners need replacing. I'm pretty sure I need new chain and sprockets soon so that probably isn't helping either.

The oil is fine.

On a bike there are lots of little bits to make a rattle. You'll become aware of the problem when the rattling bit drops off and your bike stops.
