have anyone got any ideas for chain cleaning without taking the chain off the bike, other that giving a dam good scrub with a toothbrush can't think of anything else. come across this "Motrax Ketten Max Chain Cleaner/Lubricator" but its a bit steep at £35 https://www.worldofpower.co.uk/acatalog/Maintenance_Products.html, anyone got recomendations for any cheaper tools?
Cheers
WN

Apart from a toothbrush (again) and paraffin, no.

There's a tool you get for pushbikes where you put this box type thing with brushes on it around the chain, then pedal it whilst spraying in oil and it cleans and lubes the chain.

I don't know if there is something similar for motorbikes.

Halfords do small wire brushes. Kind of like tooth brushers but these bugers would strip yer gums. If you get two of them and tape them together with the bristles facing each other you can clean the top and bottom of the chain by pressing the handles tightly together. If you put the bike on the center stand and put it in first gear the wheel will turn at an nice speed to allow you to clean pretty quickly. Then move the pair of brushes to hit the sides of the chain dong both sides at the same time. With plenty of chain cleaner it's a 5 min job to clean it properly.

DO NOT put your bike in first gear then start putting your fingers near the chain.
A suprisingly high number of people I know lost the top of there finger due to cleaning in this way.

There is. Saw it in the back of some bike mag.

Brush and elbow grease is cheaper and works just as well, maybe even better.

One thing i've found useful is some strong kitchen roll.
I used bounty and could scrub the chain clean without the fibres coming apart too much.

Mrs wasnt too happy though!
