For the best overall compromise of initial cost, availability, reliability, parts availability, speed and handling the VFR NC30 seems to be the best. But all the 400's are pretty similar in terms of performance. Im assuming you mean sports 400's here and your not considering nakeds like the CB400sf or XJR400 etc...

Idea Go on then, what's wrong with them, in the context of this thread?

I've never ridden one, but they look relatively roomy to me. I would have thought parts availability was good too, as they were sold new in this country until 2003-ish.

Question

Smile

Yamaha FZR400 is a cheaper option to all the more expensive ZXR's, Gixxers etc.

I quite fancy a Honda VFR400 NC24 for some strange reason. But I do like the NC30's as well though.

I had a NC30 and loved it.

Gf has a CBR400 NC23, Which is also a lovely bike too.

You cant go wrong with a CBR400 NC23/29 and a VFR NC30 or RVF NC35.

This is the NC24 which I quite like, the single headlamp is quite nice if you ask me.

The one below is the NC30 and its bloody gorgeous if you ask me.

Wink

only thing wrong with the zxr400 is the fake ram air pipes on top of the petrol tank

sports 400's are too tiny for me though hence the purchase of a thundercat

in june Thumbs Up

the gsxr400sp has only done 12,000 km's though

will be a bargain for someone

nice bike as well in my opinion

Fzr's engines are supermely tunable, most were raced over here or have been raced. Pity is they do tend to go boom!

Most important thing is to look for a good example, sit on each one, its the only way to get a feel for the small diferences. Ip picked an rvf400 because the power delivery suited me, the sound from the art race can is astonishing and its looks wont age.
10 year old design and i cant stop going to the garage just to look at it!

zxr400 is only 400 iv ridden

Thrashed one in Kos 4 years ago, dickhead me, no helmet, vest and flip flops Confused The rear end felt a bit loose though, maybe because some daygo hadnt serviced it for 3 years I dont know? Engine was stupidly revvy but blisteringly fast as far as I can remember. I have a nice exhaust scar on my calf too!!!
