Hi Guys,

My first post on the forums....and its regarding a problem. Swaffs pointed me in your direction, so hopefully you can help me.

I'm the proud owner of a BSB tuned R6 but I have also purchased a TZR125RR just to go about town on. Please be aware, this isn't a TZR125R, its the RR model that was never introduced in the UK

I brought the bike off of a friend of mine and he had just had £600 spent on a totally new engine basically ( it was a rebuild, But it was basically all new parts) Obviously, as you're all aware as your bikers, it needs to be "caressed" for the first 500 miles. So my friend wasn't tempted to give that throttle a bit more of a twist, he asked the techy on the bike to Disconnect the powervalve so he couldn't blow her up. He sold the bike to me at 250 miles into the run-in, I have now completed the 500 miles and want to give her a bit of a run down the motorway. unfortunatley, Shes only capable of 60mph at present.

I've taken the fairing offon both sides to take a look at her nakid ( corrr) and I have located what I believe to be the powervalve. I've looked best I can, and the cables seem to be all connected at the powervalve end, but I can't seem to see where they go. I believe the TZR125RR has servo- assisted powervalve, so the likelyhood is its diconnected a tthat end, but I just can't seethe damn thing. also, I was wondering if the indicators and Powervalve could be on the same "line" as since the powervalve was disconnected they haven't worked.

If someone can help me out, I'd much appreciate it. Ok - I have a faster bike, so I shouldn't really be fussed. But you always want something that you haven't got, and thats the TZR to have the power. Its also apparently the fastest 125 production bike made, so I wanna test that for myself.

Anyway, Hope to get some responses, Cheers guys.

I have spoken to the main man at YPMRC and here's his response:
Quote:
Right, the powervalve is at the front of the barrel and the housing is
mounted each side of it (I'm assuming it's a single) it's operated by a
cable that runs to a small servo probably mounted to the frame under the
tank. You can hear the servo kick in when the ignition is turned on.

I'm rebuilding my top end this weekend and will know a lot more about
powervalve assembly by Monday, Lol.

In the meantime here are some places where he can get some good advice:

TZR forum... https://www.neil.nu/cgi-bin/tzrforum/ikonboard.cgi
YPM Forum... https://www.ypmrc.co.uk/frames.html
Stan Stephens, legendary 2/s tuner who runs a telephone helpline...

Another bloke who really know his TZR's is Martin of Taymar racing,
Sevenoaks, Tel: 01732 824711. info@taymarracing.co.uk

Hope that helps mate.

another quick comment

They look like wicked little bikes, love to have a go on one.

So just to reiterate, take of tank, turn on ignition and listen for the
servo.
The powervales run on a cable (similar to bicycle brake cable) going to the
barrel housing which will probably be circular in shape and runs up to the
servo. The ends of the cable just slot into a plastic thing, they are
probably disconnected there.

Hi

This is the Italian built TZR125.

Only thing to do is lift the tank and follow the cables from the power valve to the servo unit. Chances are that they have just disconnected the electrical connection for the servo. The servo has 3 wires going to it, 2 in a block connector and one seperate one that dives off to the CDI unit.

Looking at the wiring diagram I cannot see why it should affect the indicators.

All the best

Keith
