Hi guys,

I have a GS500 not the best bike in the world but i just passed my test about 2 months ago. Its a 03 bike but the exhaust has quite allot of rust on it already.

Was thinking of replacing it for something better (the exhaust that is) and some other Mods. I have a small screen what else could i do.

Nate

Thumbs up for a stainless steel remus system for your GS. I have one on my er5, and theres a bloke on the gs500e forum that has it on his GS. We both recommend it highly Very Happy

Hmm, other mods. Try fit a 916 end onto it? Very Happy Or....swap the front forks for an rgv250's.

I wouldn't recommend fitting an exhaust designed for a totally different bike to the GS500 without some serious rejetting.

BSM Make 3 different exhaust specifically designed for the GS500, found here on https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/ under the BSM Exhausts tab.
Other mods you could do is to fit a GSXR600 shock, as they fit right in, and fitting a 140/70-17 rear tyre. This will firm up the suspension and make it a little more stable too.

As for screens if you relly want to spend some money fit a full Suzuki fairing for your bike, or if not get a Faberto Fabbri Fly screen. Smile

Craig, I wasn't suggesting that. I HAVE one for my er5...and someone on gs forums has one on their gs500. Similarish bikes. Not saying take one from an er and put it on a gs!!

Prefer the naked look bikes so not up for the fairing. The BSM's look good..

Cheers

Crash bungs (good ones) are a good idea...

I wouldn't reccomend any performance mods untill you have had it a while, exhaust yes, if yours is rotting away it will cost more or less the same to replace it with an official one.. but regearing and suspension changeing you might well find is not what you wanted when you get used to the bike, you might find you want a different bike, even just for the change, and thats a bit of a git when you have spent the same ammount you payed for it and get nothing back on it when you do sell...

Better to save your money, maybe get some luggage and go on holliday on it, much more value for money grin wise Cool

That is totally ridiculous. Why not just buy a GSXR for the price.
As you say I will probably just replace the exhaust as it makes the bike look abit tatty.

I have been looking at the oxford soft luggage as i was thinking of going to see my folks in Coventry (I'm in London). The bike came with a givi rack but it looks like someone cut the box of so I would need a new base plate too.
