Hi,

I went to a bike show last week, and despite all the shiny japanese offerings on show, I was mostly in awe of the Triumph thruxton. I love it. I've always prefered naked bikes and the thruxton's raw beauty stopped me in my tracks. I sat on it for ages grinning like a 5 yr old on a new tricycle.

But at the same time.... i like bikes cos i want to go fast and get faster, obviously if this is what you want, its a sporty japanese bike you need.

So, what do you think of it? style over substance? what do you think of retro wannabe bikes in general?

I was rather taken by the one up the road in the Triumph dealership. Though not as much as Goose was, I swear if I hadn't dragged him from the building he would have bought it.

They're cool. Cool Fast isn't everything in this world.

If that's your thing they are probably very nice, but not for me thanks. Horses for courses and all that.

It has style.

I prefer fun to style, and no way I can afford to pay for both.

VERY cool. I want one, and will be looking for one after my 33bhp restriction runs out. As for speed, they are re-creating a look where 100mph was almost unheard of unless it was on top class racers, so it isnt a problem, and the looks more than make up for it.

yeah, I mean it still makes 69bhp, not alot but enough, especially since you want to go much over 100 on a drooped-bars naked cafe racer...

but to be honest, i mostly agree... I'm on a budget (hence the '96 GS500) so if I was gonna spend that money I'd spend it on performance not looks.

Still think it looks beautiful though Smile
