 |

hi all,
just had my bike in the garage to have the rear tyre change, as i have got my MOT due next month i asked then to look over it to see what the general condition was like. They said that it should be fine though the back brake was binding a bit, they didn't think that it was that serious.
The thing is i don't know what this actually means! does it mean the pads aren't returning to there rest position quick enough after the brakes are applied?
what can be done to stop this happening?
Cheers

I'm guessing its a disc brake, probably dirt on the back of the pad, this pushing the brake onto the disc when it shouldn't.. it could also be blockage in the brake lines (probably not though) or the piston not returning properly
It could be quite a few things, probabaly nothing to worry about, next time you change the pads (might be a good time to do them anyway) make sure the piston and the back of the pad are clean, if no change come back and ask again
Edit: If it was bad it won't pass the mot, but they would have made a point of you doing something if it was likely to fail.. all it will do is wear the disc and pad faster, it wont lock the wheel up, after a ride feel the disc to see if its hot, if its untouchably hot then best get it sorted ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |
