hi,I am in need of some serious help. i have recently bought my first bike,(for field use) it is a 1992 cr 125. the bike was fine until i came to change the gearbox oil. when i drained the box there was not a lot of oil in there to begin with, so drained that off. My dad not having a bike in years said it would be fine to use normal car oil,as long as it was the same viscosity.so filled it up. i used 10w-40.started her up, and smoked like hell!!!!! so drained the box, flushed it out with neat petrol and left it over nite. re-filled the box with proper recommended oil. started her up and still smoking like a house on fire! ive ran it 4 a while to burn off any excess oil and still nothing. ive just re-packed the rear exhaust box, and it has had a new plug.also there is quite a lot of oil coming from the exhaust! have just set up the needle clip, float and mixture but still no difference. can any one help me PLEASE!!!
thanks

Understand the basic ideas of two and four strokes and you'll be fine.

If you think its too smokey double check your premix ratios.

could be a leaking crank seal between the clutch housing and the crankcase. which would explain why there was little gearbox oil beacuse the engine has been buring it.

which means you would have to strip the engine and spit the crankcase to replace the seal on the crank.

its a field bike so leave it, just make sure you check and top up the oil now and again. just means the piston is getting alot more lubcation than normal. Smile
