Wheelies... https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=18305

Slipping the clutch? Well you slip the clutch everytime you pull off, you can increase the amount of revs as much as you want, more revs = slipping your clutch more. Go outside and experiment, far easier than explaining about slipping your clutch. Smile

what they would mean is riding along, pulling the clutch in and giving a bit more revs, then dropping the clutch so the front wheel becomes light and lifts as the engine pulls it.

John's guide to wheelies

1. ride along at about 10mph in 1st gear

2. whip the clutch in all

3. nail the throttle to the redline

4. dump the clutch

5. ride that minger!

(all this happens in about 0.1 seconds)

Have fun!

John

When I was learning to drive I practised slipping the clutch on hills, helps alot with getting to learn how much you need to vary the clutch and throttle to go different speeds, holding the car with the clutch etc. Once you get a feel for it you can apply it to roundabouts and so on.

Not sure about this surely if you don't know about slipping the clutch then you have'nt got much machine control! (i.e. riding at walking pace or slower).
Just abit worrying that you want to wheelie the bike when you have'nt learnt the basics yet? will deffinatly end in tears.

Well said. If you dont even know about clutch control, dont even consider a wheelie yet. This takes balance, and understanding of rear brake, throttle, and clutch controls all in one.

Give it time, get used to your machine, then play with it. Thumbs Up

Thing is the first thing you should learn in a CBT is sliping the clutch to ride at walking pace how else do you do a U-turn?
Not having ago at you mate it's good that you ask then ppl can help but it seems that the CBT's must'nt be training ppl right which is worrying as Idon't think a CBT is enough in the first place.

But you need a CBT ona 125 Geared bike before you can ride a 125 geared bike! it's not there for inconvenience it's there for your safety! I'd do the CBT then you will know how to ride the bike!

Ok ok my bad so maybe's I am not up to scratch on the whole CBT thing but it just proves that you should have to take one on a geared bike.
I was'nt saying you can't ride a bike I was just advising you not to go do any wheelies untill you have more machine control which you can't have if you don't know how to slip the clutch.

I spent the best part of my training learning how to control the bike at wlaking pace and slower and it's proved the best part of my training.

Paul, from reading this thread through again, I think that ApriliaRs125 was asking what slipping the clutch means, rather than how do you do it?
