Time for a Geared 125 I think.

Ok, I can see me geting a right slateing now. But ive been looking at the CBR125 for my next bike.

Im after a 4 stroke for defonate. Cant be doing with cost of 2 stroke oil and cost of monthly rebuilds for the 2 stroke. Laughing

Ok, Im not after serious speed, Just want somthing that will get me from A to B without the worry of it blowing up.

My mate turned up on his "New" bike today. It was a GS125. Sorry, But I couldnt help but laugh at it. It was falling apart. Ok, For £300 it want a bad buy, But id much rather have somthing that looks reasonably good.

I know this is probably 1 in a million of the same thread, but what are peoples personal oppinions of the CBR125.

If you havnt owned one of ridden one for well enough time to get to know the bike. Then I dont want to hear your bad comments. Thumbs Down

I have ridden the cbr125 once and never again! I used to ride an NSR and it wasnt a patch on that!

Its slow uncomfortable and really looks horrible IMO

The seat is like sitting on a bread knife! its so thin!

The bike is so small and thin it really feels as if you have no road presence what so ever.

Bad bike IMO

If you want a 4 stroke 125 sports bike, get the sachs xtc, i've ridden both and the cbr hasn't a patch on the sachs.

My GF has one. They ride very well, inspire confidence both in corners and under braking.

To me they are still overpriced and the plastics are both over complex and too brittle. My GF fell off hers at about 10mph and it took me two evenings to glue all the front fairing back together in a 'make do' fashion.

CBR? Nah, Binge mate don't do it!

2 Strokes don't use that much oil. Silkolene is about £6 a litre. You won't use as much as you think. I used to have an NSR

Also look after it and it won't need rebuilding. Keep the oil topped & up don't rag it
everywhere and it'll be fine.

My old NSR has 20,000 on the clock at present and is still going without a rebuild. It's still sweet as...

a cbr125 aint cheep, and around my area a full test is about £400, which is less then a cbr. then when you get up a bit of cash or what ever, get like a gs500 or something, then save up and get a zx10r, its the logical step.

Ben - you can still have plenty of stupid fun on an SR125 or GS or CG 125. It may look like a commuter, but in the right hands, it'll be as fun or more fun than the CBR/Sachs etc - Having said that - swing my way and have a go on my XR! It wheelies a beaut once you can get it right. Reliable OHC engine and basically built to be run to the ground! XR125 = semi-competent all rounder

Not too much wrong with a CG, but in todays traffic conditions a disc front brake is much preffered. The SR i hate, its all that sad low seat high bar rubbish that doent look right or feel right to ride. The GS should be cheap secondhand, and i think its got a disc brake? The newer CBR is a potential bargin secondhand, but dont pay new price for one, and its still got too much plastic for my liking. The XTC again is a good looker, not any quicker or as nicely made as the CBR though. Have Yamaha released a CG125 copy of thier own now called a YBR125 or something?
If i had to have a 4stroke 125, id try looking out for a CB125T they sound great with a 2-1 open pipe!

I havent owned one, but I had a sit on one at the show we went to a while ago when I was looking for a 125. I felt instantly cramped and found that reaching the pegs meant folding double, don't know how tall you are, but I'm about 6'1 and 15 stone. Kind of a shame, as I quite like the bike. Though the tyres are crazily thin, I would be quite worried to ride it in dodgy conditions.

Today I got the pegs on both sides of the moped well and truely scratched up, well chuffed. The little square section tyres have basically no chicken strips on them. I don't think kneedowns will be possible though Confused

Though fucking hilarious if they are Thumbs Up
